You're absolutely correct Angie. The coaches and commentators can say do this and do that but when u got a guy in front of u who moves like Suga, it's easier said than done. Was so happy that Jack got it done and Shavkat would be an interesting match up but a tough one. Dustin made me jump out of my seat! and think about how happy u would have been 🤘 so good! I can see Ngannou losing his return to mma. He's taken too much time off, but we'll see.
@spicemma8 ай бұрын
Hey Simon thanks for the support! I can see Ngannou losing his next fight also. Don't think he's ever been knocked out before, and to that degree. His next opponent wont be so respectful and fearful which may be his undoing ( similar to the skid Derrick Lewis went on ). Lol I was thinking of recording a reaction video, but you know how much editing is involved with these things! I am favoring Jack to beat Shavs if its in Australia.
@nFinityV28 ай бұрын
I have a different perspective, which some people won't agree with. The problem with Chito is that he has a limited set of tools in his arsenal, and lacks that ability to take risks. We've seen it in past fights, especially the Sandhagen fight where he gets snakecharmed with feints and can't find a rythmn going. As soon as he was biting on Sean's feints I knew it wasn't gonna be a great night. Sure Chito has his moment in the final 30s, where he took a chance, but as with his fights with Cruz and Sandhagen he gives up far too much ground and relies on setting up something big. Loving the breakdowns, always nice to hear a fresh perspective and view on these fights!
@spicemma8 ай бұрын
Thank you ! I had the same perspective, but didn't want to disrespect Chito.. but there is some sort of metal block right? Maybe it goes in hand with his limited tools and he watches too much. It pains me to see a fighter rely on the magic shot and the fight escapes them, like T Woodly in his last ufc fights. Ah well! He's still a legend.

Great event, Angie! Man... I'd have loved to see your face right after Dustin got the win... The main event was kinda underwhelming. I was expecting a more competitive fight, and the skill display also was just OK. But overall, really good event. It delivered the expectations.
@spicemma8 ай бұрын
Hey Rodrigo! I got a work out from all the cheering watching the fights! It takes me a while to process the result sometimes.. for Dustin too,, especially with everything that happened on the weekend. I watched much of the Ngannu Joshua card too. I see what u mean about the main event.. it was one sided, more of a striking master class more than an mma title fight.
@gfaulk8 ай бұрын
Fair man opinions are opinions I just don’t know how you aren’t impressed with that striking performance it was beautiful in every sense of the word lol
@rodrigogois8 ай бұрын
@@gfaulk I was talking the overall skill dispayed from both fighters. For the side of O'Malley, he did pretty well. He was on his wheelhouse and performed well, so I can appreciate that, but on the side of Chito, I felt not much came out. It was not a competitive fight, expected when it comes to a title fight. Of course, there are non-competitive title fights who finish early, but at least it was a finish. When it goes 5 rounds and the opposition doesn't offer that same level one is giving (bar the durability, because Chito sure is durable), it doesn't feel that great for me as a spectator. But hey, my opinion, of course. Glad you liked it 👍🏼
@africanus20898 ай бұрын
Love the analysis! Chito is one of the most frustrating fighters to watch. He has shades of Tyron Woodley in that he's a very limited counterpuncher because he has very few means to walk his opponents into counters. He doesn't really feint, fake or do much to dictate the pace of his fights, and he's very low-volume, which is often the case with heavy-handed fighters. But it causes him to give up rounds because he spends so much time looking for the perfect opening. The opening though, won't come if he's being overwhelmed by volume has no time or space to make the reads he needs to then land the KO. This is why fighters shouldn't just assume they'll finish someone. They need a reliable way to win rounds in case they can't finish someone, otherwise you find yourself losing a decision simply because you didn't do enough. As for Ngannou, I had a feeling he was getting KO'd the moment I saw that wide gap between his guard. His lead hand was kept so far off to the side and low (probably an MMA leftover from having to dig for underhooks to fight takedowns) that he had nothing to obstruct any of AJ's jabs or straights. It also meant his check hook had to travel through a much wider arc, so it fell just an inch short of landing most times. And it was all he was looking for. The moment AJ started circling away from his check hook/left hand and toward Ngannou's right, Ngannou should have tried landing with his rear hand. But I think he was caught up by the fact that his check hook is what dropped Fury, so he thought it was his money punch.

Thanks heaps. Oh my gord tell me about it. Cheeto is anticlimactic for sure as much as we love him. I was thinking of T-wood also. I agree.. fighters need to fight to win each round or initiate the knock out or sub. It is soul crushing to see fighters with all the potential but no means to deliver. Thanks for that analysis, I have to rewatch and see. Boxing is so quick, I need more experience watching it.

The difference in footwork skills between O'Malley and Chito became glaringly obvious to me after watching a replay of the fight. Chito just couldn't get out of the way quickly enough and didn't have the range advantage he normally does to make up for his flat footed style. Congrats on the picks!

I put in Dustin by 2nd RD TKO. Odds were +1400…which was crazy considering Dustin is the better striker. Plus rumors came out on Friday that Benoit had been taking antibiotics and that can affect cardio. JDM’s striking looked great as always, throwing combos and going to the body. I hope he can continue to work on his takedown defense and grappling. I was cracking up at the Almeida part 🤣Good stuff Spice!

Way cool Spice...The only way to have success against O'malley is to get him on the ground or make it a clinch, close affair fight. O'Malley's foot work, speed, length and talent is too much for all of the Bantam Weights. Merab has the best chance with his wrestling and cardio, but he has to cross the void to get to O'Malley, which will be very dangerous, and then he has to get him to the ground, which will be very difficult..Like the art work, very nice..See ya around the traps..Except my traps are in the Adirondack forest..I only see Bears, deer, raccoons, and other animals in these traps, which is the way I like it..

I really wish Ngannou was as patient as he was against Fury in the early rounds... he didn't seem to realise that his counterpunching was his best asset. Although AJ has power, it's the fact Francis was diving in taking risks with out of range shots instead of keeping his guard up and bracing for what was coming his way that made this a short night. Very sad (;_;).

The respect for both sports was my biggest take away from that fight. It's trippy because if you watch the fight where ngannou fought stipe he KO'd him almost the exact same way. As for o'mally I think in order to be at him you need to have a serious lack of fear bc those hands are lethal, but if you have good defense and put pressure I'm pretty sure you win which is why I think merab takes the win.
@spicemma8 ай бұрын
Thats exactly what I thought in that moment - the KO falling over the knee- a strange coincidence. I think stipe actually landed on his lower leg flat hope his knee was ok! Merab has the right personality to take on O'Malley... but it seems O'Malley's foot work has also improved. Wonder if Merab can catch him, or will he get sniped on the way in?
