Casey is right, this whole HW Championship situation is stupid af. I mean Dana is a mule for wanting 2 guys that are basically retired to fight for the title. Renan Barao was interim Bantamweight Champion, defended twice and was upgraded for a 3rd defense. Thats why I asked the question about Tom and Curtis. My gut tells me that the winner will have to defend 1 more time.

@@e.casey.leydonJon beat Gane, a former interim champ, and is set to face Stipe, the last undisputed champ (still within the promotion). That seems more legit than a belt they made up just because Jon and Stipe didn't fight earlier.

@@PhilSophia-ox7epBeing champion with one fight is absolutely worthless. Especially in a division where one punch sends you home. Aspinall had 7 wins. And I really like Gane, but his interim belt against Derrick Lewis was absolute nonsense. He was matchmade to avoid Blaydes or difficult grapplers, and Jones perfectly exploited his glaring hole in that department. Stipe will be 42 yo in a month, hasn't won in 4 years, fought 2 guys since 2018, who aren't in the division. Putting him in a title shot over Aspinall is ridiculous.

Jones didn’t even win the belt from the real champ, has literally had one fight at heavyweight. Aspinall has actually worked his way through the division

Why do we have to pretend that mental health talk is still an excuse? Finding out paddy was suffering from depression is the same as finding out he is coming into the fight on a bad knee (or whatever injury) it’s a pre fight built in excuse. I also believe it should be treated like an excuse when people bring it up after fights. Ah I was depressed. Ah I drank too much wine the night before the fight. Ah I broke my pinky toe. Etc.

Belal would have to break the 35 years old curse. Only Woodley did it, once against an older Maia, once against Till whom he easily took down and finished. Hard to see Belal doing it, especially not being a huge finisher.
