Yeah but khabib and Conor was an exiting drama fight, but I think most people expected that khabib would go out there and just maul Conor and sure were there some fanboys who thought Conor had a chance of sleeping him? Ofc that will always be the case but this fight is different. You’ve got islam and khabib fans who think he will win easily or for sure and then you’ve got Charles fans who think otherwise but at the end of the day, unlike the khabib Conor matchup nobody really knows how this will play our. Both of these guys biggest strengths their opponent has the perfect counter skill. Islams wrestling Charles has world class bjj and lethaplll ground game, and same with Charles grappling, islam has great control. Charles has great stand up, very lethal in the clinch and at distance and islam has amazing striking defense so this fight could literally go either way and both guys have the skills to win this fight

Khabib was able to just walk down people and then charge in on them for the takedown and control them the whole fight seemingly with absolute ease. Charles walks forward for sure, but he gets Dropped, literally most of his fights he's getting rocked. Luck can only take you so far and one day very soon one of those shots that Charles keeps eating will land him with CTE (probably already has) and a knockout loss.

Most of the times he's been knocked down it was a nickel for a dime, because he gassed Poirier, Gathje, Chandler all by the 1st round landing knees and teeps to the body. I can see it going either way, but the fact of the matter is Islam has to get through Charles striking BEFORE any grappling can take place and I just think that gives Charles the advantage. Islam got worked over by another tall lanky guy who threw a lot of knees in the Barnaoui fight. Albeit that was a long time ago I can see a similar thing happening.

That is a an important difference between Oliveria and a champ like Israel Adesanya, or how Jon Jones got. Israel and Jon got overly-tactical which still wins, but was significantly more boring. i was one of the doubters earlier but having watched him in his recent fights I honestly think Olivera can really stop Islam. The only way i see Islam take a W is through decision , he ain't submitting Charles. But Charles, he was more ways to win imo. I'm really neutral for this fight, may the best guy win.

Why don't you google up their respective wins & losses in the SUB department --- if you're into grown up stuff, especially if you're going to bet on someone, you'd need to look at & understand BOTH of his wins and losses, NOT just his wins --- and see if they're comparable first? And, then, tabulate their standing KO wins & losses, too, and THEN decide which fighter could or couldn't, would or wouldn't, KO which guy... instead of just making assertions: X has too much magical power so Y can't beat him, etc? Like you, I don't know either man; I think they both are brilliant in their specialties; both also have very good Muay Thai. But I've looked at their NUMBERS and I came to the conclusion Islam has MORE ways to win, NOT Charles. The assertion that just because Charles is aggressive, in the stand-up, that he's going to create panic in Islam and dominate him... is LIKELY just that, for THIS REASONING (which may or may not be sound; but I think it is sound): when you have a next level BJJ, like Charles has, and you are aggressive against mostly or purely strikers, even elite ones --- or even against guys with D1 wrestling like Gaethje and Chandler... but guys who have never integrated their D1 into an offensive weapon with elite BJJ ---- you WILL put them in a defensive/retreating situation... They WILL have to retreat, once/if they fail to put you down, permanently (& Chandler, Dustin, and Justin ALL knocked Charles down 1-3 times each; but they DID FAIL to permanently KO him)... But against Islam, who starts out as a careful, DEFENSIVE, counter punching guy who just happens to be a NEXT LEVEL wrestler ---- that just means if you clinch up against Islam, you WILL go down and he, close to 100%, will be on top of you ---- how are you going to push him recklessly or make him panic? I say this... his coaches and DC and everyone else who follows MMA and who understands MMA say this: there is only way to stop Islam from taking you down, when you get up so close as to touching him: you will have to KO him (& one person in 23 fights has done that: I use a cheap, on-like Google calculator, so it could be off a bit, but when I punched in 1/23, it gave me a 4.35%. Up to this point in Islam's career, you have a 4.35% chance of KOing cold .... remember, this is a NEGATIVE NUMBER AGAINST Islam.... He has POSITIVE KO numbers of his own.... Islam KO ~13% of guys put in front of him, in 23 fights......). We all know, again, Charles has very good stand-up, and, more than that, he is VERY AGGRESSIVE. What we also need to know is, HOW HIGH are his stats when it comes to KOing opponents? You can't just make stuff up, by assertion, "Oh, no problem, he'd KO Islam for sure." Only children --- or adults with children attitude --- say things like that, with certainty, without any knowledge or facts to back up their assertions. As an educated, grown up person, if you say X is going to do Y to Z, you actually need some convincing PAST evidence he's done exactly that.... to very high percentages of people put in front of him. Again, why don't you look up Charles KO wins and losses, AS A PERCENTAGE of his total fights.... and see if you have UNNECESSARILY exaggerated his aggression with his actual ability to KO people? Then, again, look up his SUB wins and losses, too, as a percentage of his 42 pro MMA fights... and CONTRAST/COMPARE those with Islam's respective SUB wins and losses... and THEN decide which person, in actual numbers, positive and negative combined, has the best stats? Remember, we all could act like little children and MAKE ASSERTIONS, short, precise one-one or one-line assertions, like all these KZbin commenters do on these threads.... especially the positive, good ones that we or our heroes have magical power and we/our hero could and would easily demolish X, Y, and Z. But such childish BS aren't things backed up by reality & facts, like numbers and percentages...
