UFC Fighters "Predict" Ilia Topuria vs Max Holloway | UFC Sphere

Newly crowned UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria is not impressed with Holloway's performance and claims Holloway will be an easy fight for him. El Matador has now issued a severe warning to Max Holloway on Twitter.
Max Holloway and Ilia Topuria engage in a dialogue on social media. The two are set to fight soon for the UFC Featherweight title strap.
Topuria is the current UFC featherweight champion, while Makhachev holds the lightweight title.
Holloway, a former featherweight champion who defended his title three times, fell to Dustin Poirier in his 2019 bid to become lightweight champion.
Now that Holloway's shocking knockout punch has earned him the BMF belt and his third straight win, however, Topuria could face the 12-year UFC veteran for his first title defense.
That fight is expected to take place later this year, and could potentially be located in Topuria's native Spain

No one’s as skilled and focused as him. Max is a worse striker and grappler. Topuria is probably as good as a low level pro in regards to boxing and has competed nationally in Greco and bjj. I’m not smoking anything I said ilia was gonna ko volk within three. With Topuria the eye test is enough no one in that weight class right now is touching him. Max isn’t gonna finish him and he won’t be able to fight such a perfect fight he never gets caught. Gaejthe was never that skilled he’s super brawly and gets wobbled every fight

I'd much rather see a rematch between Mcgregor and Max at sayyy 170. I think it would be hard for Conor to make 155 after beefing way up for his ROADHOUSE movie role. If Conor couldn't get Max out of there in rounds 1 or 2 Max would take over that fight. Even back in the day Max is the only one who survived Conors devastating left hand at 145. @@dassadec The difference is that Max lost 3 fights against Volk, not just once. Twice in a dominant fashion. Ilia walks down and sleeps Volk in 2nd round. Sad thing is that, people still don't give enough credit to Ilia and blame it to the KO Volk received prior that month. That probably played a role at some degree, but definitely wasn't deciding factor. That being said, Ilia as a shorter fighter has the same reach as Max (which is an advantage). He is an experienced grappler/wrestler (Greco-Roman wrestling background, black belt in BJJ, 8 Submission in his career, 7 in the first round). He has a great chin (took huge heavy head kick in upper division on a short notice fight and didn't wobble once, immediately started to recover). Max will need to come down from light to featherweight, that's already a disadvantage. I doubt he will still have a KO power (TKO at best). While we have seen Ilia's 1 punch KO both in feather and lightweight. In conclusion, on paper Ilia has more power, better grappling/wrestling, arguably better boxing (especially pocket boxing with long combinations). Max has proven multiple times that he is a legend of the sport, true BMF, however he has never faced anyone like Ilia. Illia is unique and once again, I doubt Max stands any chance for now. May the best of that night win.

I might be biased being from Alicante, La Casa del Matador🇪🇸, but I fully believe Ilia is the best fighter in the division and would KO islam at 155 considering volk, who isnt very poweful, was wobbling and dropping islam left and right . All that being said, I must admit Ilia fought a damaged volk , that islam KO on short notice while being older really took a toll on him. The trilogy was close, but volk dominated the final fight, volk just had the style to counter him and had Elite cardio. That being said, Max is the only guy that scares me for Ilia, way too experienced, granite chin is still intact despite eating bombs from geathje, better cardio and output.

Stand up wise boxing wise Max is very Good.👍🏼 Toperi is got power though and is not bad on stand up himself. Close distance toe to toe Max is the best. It’s interesting to see. Anybody can Win. I will go with Max on this. As style make fights . Volks, topari, Max is similar level. Anyone can Win, some fighters just got ur number due to fight style, even if ur good 👍🏼. Interesting match up. max has better kickboxing and higher volume. also doesn't have a compromised chin. also doesn't get walked down and pressured against the cage often because he has good footwork and lateral movement. people that think ilia will just ko him are newgen fans that don't remember max's championship reign

Yeah the fight is a lot closer than people think, only thing that worries me is that max has always struggled more against smaller opponents, I guess we’ll just have to see if illia can stay composed and defensively sound when max throws a lot of volume. Illia also doesn’t have this insane power that people think he does, all his KOs come from super precise shots that his opponents don’t see, and I just don’t see him being able to square max up against the cage. If I had to bet I’d probably say illia by close decision like the first max and volk fight where it’s super close but he’s landing the more damaging shots

Look back at this past fight max COULD have rev stopped the fight by just pounding his broken nose but look at the amounts of spinning back kicks max threw and body kicks .. he let him have a Chance to go the 5rds… and 2 eye pokes one after another he could have punched his nose but he was pushing him off trying to avoid it

Khabib did not need good boxing, just wrestling and ground and pound, and it took him time to to peak and still won everybody (never chose one fighter with wrestling or jiu-jitsu as strong base). Ilia at 27 years old champion undefeated (With Wrestling base when started at MMA, FIRST 8 Fights won by submission.....HE CAN ONLY GET BETTER, and the way he is finishing his opponents. He Will destroy Max 100 per cent, and he will totally deserve the BMF if he Kos Max.
