Mica was one of the guys who got me into competitive grappling. I remember watching that Polaris Squads event, USA vs Brazil, and there was this looming sense the entire time that Mica was the guy to be feared. He didn't care that he was technically 80+ KG; he knew that he'd beat the heavier Americans anyway. There was this moment when he approached the mat for his first match and got down on one knee and prayed to God and made a big show of how deadly serious he was, only to immediately stand up and reveal that it wasn't his turn to grapple and just laughed as his teammate took his place. He's not just a shit-hot grappler; he's a great personality and seems to be a class act. I'd fucking kill to grapple with the athleticism that Mica grapples with, and I can't wait to see him, and more guys like him, compete at events as good as CJI was this year. Another great video, VoteSport.

This is what Wrestling and Jiu-jitsu enthusiasts can't comprehend. MMA is a blend of many disciplines, including both striking and grappling arts. Comparing one facet of MMA to MMA is like comparing MMA to Boxing or Judo or Freestyle Wrestling or Jiu-jitsu. MMA has also evolved, and the era where specialists dominated MMA is long gone 😂 decades long. In MMA today, you can not be successful without a well-rounded game. Specialists, as you say, get devoured 😂

I haven't trained in so long that I am pretty sure I will tap to white belts now . if it wasnt for my lower back injury and my neck pain I will start training again . BTW FOR ALL YOU YOUNG GUYS THATS TRAINING NOW, TAKE IT FROM ME AND MY MISTAKES , LISTEN TO YOUR BODY , DONT TWIST YOUR BACK AND NECK DOING MOVES THAT YOUR BODY WASNT MEANT TO DO!!! Dangerous young man, but also a really good wholesome dude. I'm not bothered by the chemical performance enhancement, it's extremely common in grappling. In a sea of gifted+enhanced+dedicated athletes he excels. His strength and speed and endurance matter, but so do his skills, a lot.
