@@pubg-blsy3352 Holloway's case was special.,he beat no 2 LW Gaethje but he made it clear he would be staying in featherweight. I think the media members(who make the rankings) were divided if Holloway should be the new No 2 in LW because he beat the No 2 or if Max shouldn't be mentioned in the LW rankings at all,because they thought he wouldn't compete there anymore and will stay in FW . Between No 2 and No 9(which was Holloway's new ranking in LW after UFC 300) and between No 9 and an unranked fighter are 6 ranks between each so i think the divided media members agreed to kind of a compromise here and put Max in the middle of No 2 and unranked

The logic behind title fights is that the champion either remains the champion or drops one place, while the contender either stays the same or takes the champion's spot. Why doesn’t this logic apply to all rankings? For example, if the number 4 fighter beats the number 2 fighter, the number 4 should become the number 2, and the number 2 should drop one place. This way, Max Holloway would occupy Justin's position, which seems fair.
