2011 would prove to be a pinnacle year in Jon Jones career, as he secured the light heavyweight title at the age of 23, making him the youngest UFC champion in Octagon history, then following this historical career moment with two additional title defenses. Jones is set to make his much anticipated return to competition at UFC 285, when he faces former interim champ Ciryl Gane in a main card championship matchup you will not want to miss!

I personally don’t think it’ll happen. The extra 50 pounds, 25-30 being muscle, at a division he’s never fought at, will severely diminish his speed. Also, we don’t know during these fights, if he was on anything because of how easy it was to pass tests. They tests were done just before, and immediately after the fight, so cycling off was easy. I don’t have a lot of confidence in Gane. It’s pretty much a given unless he lands something clean. I personally think he waited until Francis was gone before he seriously started to negotiate a fight at heavyweight. Regardless though, he’ll have the heavyweight belt, and there will be nobody for him to fight because that division is pretty much dead.
@zombieepx1933
@zombieepx1933 Жыл бұрын
@@Justin-jg2hiextra 50 lbs is a stretch. jones weighed 225-230 lbs fight night when he fought at 205 lbs. if he comes in at 250 lbs against gane like expected then thats only 20-25 lbs heavier, and not pure muscle. and also without a hard weight cut and dehydration torture. which he also spent 3 years preparing and getting used to it.

The entire Shogun sequence just blows my mind every time I see it. The fake guard break to set up that HEAVY left, the elbow after letting Shogun rest for a split second, how patient he is the entire time, and the body shot that finishes him, all of it is just some of the highest combination of skills in MMA we'll likely ever see. IMO he's the biggest what if in MMA

Late in life ? He is still the youngest UFC Champion ever.

@jimmyjackass he was only pro for like 3 years. Some guys like Khabib and Islam are grappling while still in diapers. Jones made his MMA debut in April of 2008. He won UFC gold in March 2011.... thats insane

@@thenedsmmachannel8970 I 100% agree with that However he did wrestle at UE in Highschool. He grew up like 3 miles down the RD from me. I have a Family member that cared for his House in Ithaca NY. Maybe I took your statement wrong I don't know. However he was a very young man when he won the title. So when you say late in life It comes across as you meant he was older. Kids nowadays are starting MMA at 5 years old. IMO JBJ losses this next fight. The sport is evolving rapidly.; I'm pulling for him. TYT

Jon Jones was never a bad guy, just deeply misunderstood. Deep down inside we know he is a loving, caring, compassionate and beautiful soul. This is his redemption arc. If you happen to be reading this Jon, please know that the world is rooting for your success and thank you for all that you do for us regular folk. ❤❤❤

Do you misunderstand beating your wife in front of your daughters is not a compassionate and beautiful thing . He is a skillful cheater for sure in mma . He got skills no doubt . Not many people beat up a 100 pound woman and get a title shot for it.

@@theprudentwarrior we all make mistakes and jon is no different. His greatness in the cage and his evolution outside of it should be respected and admired.

@@sandman62100 Yeah of course we all do but we all don't beat our wives. He has also cheated inside the cage though. Multiple failed drug tests and numerous eye pokes How has he evolved in a good way outside the cage? I can understand admiring his skills in the cage, but outside of it he is not that beautiful. We all don't admire him outside the cage. He says and does the same thing every time he comes back to fighting.

Good to see everyone appreciate how dominant Jon Jones was. Absolute savage. It’s gonna be so interesting to see how he does after such a long layoff and going up a division, especially after a very controversial win in his last fight. Now that I think about it, so many parallels with GSP. GSP shocked me with how great he looked and maybe Jon Jones will do the same. But I just get this feeling that we might just see him get KOd. Especially after how he treated some of his opponents (dropped Machida like a sack of potatoes)

Jones fight iq is on another level. That machida fight says it all. Machida was countering on Jones's kicks. Cornermen told him that. He fakes a kick booom. Dayum that was beautiful jus like he said in the post fight interview.
