@I know I’m gay when I say this but never say never MMA is unpredictable
@Pric3less15 жыл бұрын
@I know I’m gay when I say this but I take it you don't grapple? The kid has extremely good Jiu Jitsu (so did his opponent as well) and he wrestled in high school which was less than two years ago and obviously he still wrestles do to his career in MMA. His problem is his standup. Most guys in the UFC (and really just MMA in general) actually have pretty terrible Jiu Jitsu. Of course BJJ is only one side of the spectrum when it comes to MMA but most MMA fighters are jacks of all trades without any formal backgrounds in anything. All of the greats over the years had formal backgrounds in something before transitioning into MMA. Michelle Nicollini, Demian Maia, Ryan Hall, Charles Oliveira, etc are all examples of MMA fighters who have formal backgrounds in Jiu Jitsu and you see how they tore it up over the years. Same can be said about Wrestling with Dominic Cruz, TJ Dillashaw, Chad Mendes, Jon Jones, etc or guys with Karate backgrounds like Lyoto Machida, Michelle Waterson, GSP, Uriah Hall, Stephen Thompson, etc you see my point. When it comes to MMA it's better to master one thing and be decent at everything else, than it is to just be decent at everything and be a master at nothing. Trust me, the kid has potential. His Jiu Jitsu and his Wrestling are both on point, it's his striking that needs a ton of improvement.
@Pric3less15 жыл бұрын
@I know I’m gay when I say this but His opponent is a black belt in BJJ though while Hooper is a brown belt so I wouldn't call either of them incompetent. He was just gassed to be honest and that shit will mentally make or break a fighter. Can't tell you how many practices I've had where I let a partner get the better of me with something that I knew how to defend against but was too tired to even try to do so. Trust me, cardio while not synonymous with fight IQ, can still be a motherfucker.
@Pric3less15 жыл бұрын
nikola poyukov I don’t think you really understood my comment in the first place. First and foremost his opponent is a black belt in BJJ and even though they are in the same weight class, he’s obviously way bigger and stronger. The reason why he couldn’t take him down aside from already being at a size disadvantage is because he wasn’t setting up his takedowns properly in the first place. On top of that, he has bad stand up and his opponent knew he didn’t want to stand with him, which means he was anticipating the shot even more so he was ready to sprawl. But that’s besides the point because my argument still stands. It is better to be a master at one thing and be decent at everything else than to be decent at everything and a master at nothing. Like I said in my previous comments, the kid has amazing grappling but terrible striking, and you use your striking to set up your shots so that way they don’t become so predictable.
@Pric3less15 жыл бұрын
nikola poyukov once again, I said in my previous comment that they are in the same weight class but his opponent has a bigger frame. Come on dude this isn’t rocket science. Use your eyes. Who’s more muscular? Who has the larger body type? Who’s slim/slender? Do you know what cutting water weight is? Because that’s what fighters do. MMA fighters rarely fight at their natural weight and his opponent obviously cuts more weight than he does to get to 145. I take it you’re new to MMA?

Hooper is like a freaking snake on the ground he just slips all over the place. That was some high level ground game for an 18 year old. Wait till he he is 20. He will be scary.
