Intel Arc doesn't make money and they can't even compete in the mid range or high end. They need almost twice as much silicon as AMD or Nvidia for the same performance And even with the budget B580 you run into CPU issues due to bad drivers. With a B780 even the 7800X3D would have issues.

Intel's naming scheme at least makes sense, it's just different. I don't like it but I guess they had to change it eventually, otherwise we'd end up with names like 20900k and 21700HX in a few years (which could get confusing), AMD's is absolutely just misleading by design.

My B580 OC runs like a charm on 1440p. Yes i had to manually install all the drivers but after that i got framerates and upscaling of older games up to 180 fps. My benchmarks show a comparable performence to the 4070 in all high end last year titles.

@@Lovelandmark I paired it with the 9800x3d but i would say it has more to do with the motherboard chipset X870E that unlocks everything. ReBAR and full PCIe 5.0 readyness. You just need an AM5. Forget AM4 chipsets.

Here in UFD they've got a short talking about this but it's most likely that we won't find it because they upload so many lol.

You know the more I think about, the more I realize the fact that whomever came up with these codename deserves a raise, first they are fantastical, the illustrate progress: Alchemist, they are in intense R&D to merge material and magical arts to forge a mystical product the likes of which they have never produced before. Battlemage, have achieved enough progress with the help of the alchemy to truly wage war against a portion of the competition's offerings. I'm rooting for them the way I was rooting for AMD before the Ryzen 1 launch. I love that they're being so matter of fact about it all. Doesn't mean they're speaking the truth, but it makes me excited for the laptop reviews to come out. Desktop stuff will probably still get eaten alive by AMD. The dGPU comment probably means we're not gonna get much more than a 'killer value' gpu in the gaming segment each generation until they maybe go into a chiplet design.

Ollama lets anyone run all sorts of LLMs locally (provided that they have hardware for that, many Nvidia and AMD GPUs are supported though). NDI/DistroAV lets you stream separate video/audio streams over your LAN to your other PC, with a decently efficient codec, for a separate stream PC setup. Good on Intel for trying to make their own versions available to a wider audience. Their AI Playground software is also pretty okay for local chat/image generation, if a bit barebones.

I'm waiting for INTEL stock to drop below $15 a share before I start buying some. I'm betting their foundries will succeed. And I'm also betting "chip design" will become easier and easier as A.I. improves so the real profits will come from companies that own foundries to build what others are designing. In other words, Pat was right but his vision won't be seen for a few more years. Sure, he needed to be fired for overspending at a time when INTEL should have been more frugal, but his move to focus more on foundries will be seen as the decision that ultimately saved the company. That's assuming they get the foundries working.

The thing could beat AMD by 30% while using only 30 watts but until we see whether these chips 💩 the bed and die in a year and a half I'll pass. Remember Raptor Lake looked really good at launch with insane clocks and ST performance, so good many server companies bought them for gaming servers....it was only at the year and a half mark that the chips all started pining for the fjords 💐

Remember how Intel shipped top-of-the line Alder Lake and Rocket Lake CPUs with AVX-512 instructions supported by the P-cores, and the pulled back the feature using microcode updates ! That was not fair to consumers lke me, Intel ! Intel wanted the shiny new instructions for their data center CPUs only, but individual consumers have no chance to buy those. Intel seriously needs to adjust their attitude towards consumers...
