I was a kid when this was on in the US. The one thing I'd always wanted to do was be an interceptor or SkyDiver pilot so I could use those chutes. The closest I ever got was putting my bike down at the bottom of a playground slide, put on my homemade helmet, and bounce on to the bike when I reached bottom. Ahh, those were the days. Thanks for bringing back those memories my twin. I truly appreciate it.

Too,it’s hard to believe,that Gerry and Sylvia Anderson made this show after they made Journey to the far side of the Sun 🌞 in 1969!It’s(Journey to the far side of the 🌞 Sun)another great 👍 film 🎥 that Gerry and Sylvia Anderson had made!Two thumb’s up ⬆️ for this one,too!

Music at end of show with panning view of the moon is really cinematic and thought provoking.

Barry Gray was the principal composer for most of Anderson's series. Also worked on Dr. Who.

I bought the entire series on DVD several years ago on the internet. Whenever I use the internet I think of this show, and also Space 1999. Yea lots of great musicians from England...excelsior!
@gleaveinjapan7 жыл бұрын
yes indeed. It took me a while to figure it out but the scene shows the Earth, then the moon, later the sun and last the alien planet. It is truly thought provoking and the music is almost early Pink Floyd style.

Yes, really spooky end music. Got to love it. That and the beatty start music. Everything about UFO was absolutely class. Where have series like this gone? UFO did not cost a fortune to make, unlike some reality shows, and Gerry Anderson wanted to make more episodes. I even see UFO fans making up pretty good amateur footage on You Tube. Bravo. Time for a re-boot of this series? If that happened, they would have a very high standard indeed to meet to match the original series, although special effects would be better these days. I would hope however, that they did not do a disaster like the recently re-vamped Thunderbirds.

Practical effects rule. That they did most of this with miniatures is amazing and shows real artistry.

In some ways the tech holds up. Lol the pilot suits were a bit cheesy but it was the 70's. I love that they're in pants on duty and then miniskirts off duty. I'm guessing a lot of adolescent fantasies were born here.

OMG I was a kid when this show was running. We used to watch this after school. Man we had good shows back then. The purple wigs wer OK, but the vinyl go-go boots and silver mini-skirts were a... good fashion statement. Great theme too, good use of IBM selectric typewriter as a telex. You didn't mess with earth back then, and they did it in style with good music and did I mention the mini-skirts?

FandersonUfo Used to LOVE this show as a kid growing up. My Dad got me hooked on it. Used to come on Sat. nights @ 5pm where I lived. Eventually though they phased it out and replaced it with Space 1999 which I thought was TERRIBLE. NO COMPARISON WHATSOEVER. I was HEARTBROKEN.

franklinnose pity they never showed a UFO captured intact. Would have been nice if they could have reversed engineered that laser weapon.

SHADO and XCOM had very similar missions too bad they never teamed up. SHADO could have gained greatly from XCOMs research and development and XCOM could have significantly boosted SHADOs ground forces

An interesting series with that touch of English. Headquarters: FILM STUDIO on Earth? Seems very HOLLYWOOD. ATTRACTIVE women for 1980 reminded me of the English women of the 60s, except for the purple hair.(ls)
