He makes great points. But hear me out. It’s important to note he had a strong desire for enlightenment and didn’t find it, it’s heartbreaking to search for something and not find it. To believe in something and it doesn’t come true. To love someone when they don’t love you back. So your mind has to work out a new reality so you don’t go mad. When I was searching for enlightenment through Jesus or as the Christian Ms call it “salvation” I fasted for 40 days and prayed and prayed. And nothing was able to fulfill me. I soon started to find all the holes in Christianity all the contradictions and now the Bible and Christianity are bullshit. This is a self defense mechanism.

On the contrary he did find Enlightenment. He calls it the calamity. What he was always trying to say was that Enlightenment cannot be engineered to occur. No methods or techniques will lead you to it simply cuz any method followed by the self will only strengthen the self. Enlightenment is the realisation that the self is Thought, an activity of memory which creates the illusion of an entity calling itself the self. He asked people to not waste their time in the spiritual market place because the gurus were fooling not only others but themselves as well.

@@sreejithMU there is no need to repeat what UG said. Let me try explaining in another way. Enlightenment is the event that occurs the moment Thought recognises that it is Thought and that it is not a self /me or I. This recognition of its true nature, and it's recognition of its own misinterpretation, misrepresentation as a self is 'enlightenment'.
