It has to do with UGA seeing what happened to FSU and making sure no information got out about Beck's injury before any decisions were made. The committee set the precedent last year.

You what to solve all this? Here is how. No Committee, No Rankings, No strength of Schedule. No G-5 teams ( they set up their own playoff system. The 4 Power Conferences play a 12 game conference schedule. The top 8 teams in each conference are in the playoffs to decide the Conference Championship. The 4 Conference Champions play for the National Championship. Competitive Football every Saturday. You play your way to the Championship!

Lifelong uga fan and 09 VT grad so im admittedly bias but georgia had a 29 game winning streak and was gunning for a 3peat then lost by 3 points to alabama last year...they arguably just as much claim to last years playoff as fsu but u havent heard a peep about that in athens. Instead they took it out on FSU. Meanwhile in Tallahassee....ur stars quit on the program and its fans, lose by 60 points and then the program just falls off the rails. Not saying FSU wasnt worthy to make the playoff, fantastic season and losing Travis was rough. All Im saying is.....maybe get over it. Then again, it's yall's offseason so not much to talk about. Has nothing to do with having to play Georgia, or players opting out (13 which were drafted to the NFL) or having a bad following season. It's the hypocrisy. They put the narrative out there that FSU lost their starting qb and therefore were a different team and continued to parrot that. Georgia is a different team without Beck. FSU won two more games, one with a backup and then the next with a 3rd string qb. Point is they still kept winning. Georgia won the conference championship with a backup for the second half and they deserve to be in. And let's stop acting like the SEC has been some dominant conference. Since like 1960 they've won 8 National Championships, a few were split. Georgia hadn't been relevant for 40 plus years until lately. Alabama hadn't won one since Gene Stallings before Saban came along. More Georgia fans are mad at FSU because 19 players opted out of the bowl game and it took away some satisfaction of winning a legitimate game rather than beat a team of 2-3-4 stringers, and a 3rd string qb who found out 4 days before the game that he was even playing in it.

I don’t buy the argument that FSU still gets left out if Jordan Travis never gets injured in favor of Alabama and Nick Saban’s last season stuff. The Committee would have put the Seminoles in the CFP being undefeated because they knew they would have no choice. Travis going down was their opportunity to do exactly what they did. But to be honest, it is what it is and I’m sick of hearing about. It’s in the past where it belongs. And again I reiterate that Georgia is still one of the best teams in this playoff even without Carson Beck, fully capable of winning the National Championship. Proof of that is with their second string QB in the second half still beating an at full strength Texas. Facts are stubborn things sometimes. I just can’t be a homer you know. I’m a realist. Especially after this season seeing a team in FSU that on paper should have been only a one loss team if not undefeated and playing great football. But I was fooled. That’s why you never rely on what’s on paper. Lesson learned.
