This video was SO helpful! You are the 1st person I have seen give measurements, time, and temperature for cooking Ugali. I watched like 40+ videos, and nobody said anything about those things. Can I make ugali with cassava flour also? If so, is it the same process and measurements? Do you have a video about making chapati? I appreciate you sharing your beautiful culture and cooking with us! ❤️ Asante Sana! 💕

Thanks Jeanette for your feedback. I’m really happy to know that I’m making a difference in peoples experience on making ugali. You can use cassava flour but haven’t tried it yet with measurements . I’ll do and will let you know. I also have 2 chapati videos- two methods of making

Yes!!! Toasted ugali over butter and a cuppa. Oh yum!!! Sometimes I'd have it in a bowl, all mushed with maziwa and sweetened up with good old cane sugar. Ah!!! Bring on the simple days. Wonderful recipe. I struggle with ugali(when I've made it _ which is probably once every 6 months) but I have a feeling that you just lit a light bulb on the ugali making theory. Love the attention to detail. Well explained. Thanks heaps.

I'm from the Caribbean and we make lots of different dishes with grounded maize. One of the dishes we make with cornmeal, is a dish called coo-coo. It's made the same way you made ugali. Options to coo-coo dish is adding coconut milk, okra, onions, some people add a few tomatoes. Like you said, it can be eaten with anything. I do enjoy it with stew fish, or fish thats seasoned and cooked in a little water. Sometimes coo-coo is made with the cornmeal and coconut milk. Also, we make it just like you, with plain water. (Turn corn). Now I see where my Trinidad people get our coo-coo dish from. It originated from our Mother country ❤️
