Beautifully said, Miriam. I was in tears. The music may well have played a part in that! Brave indeed. Long been a dream of mine, but at 75, merely a dream, knowing I wouldn’t be fit enough to attempt such “ an arduous trek” as you suggested. Vicarious travel only.

2:44 Look how stiff she is.. why go on a trip like this when you express all kinds of wrong behaviors in front of animals. Just sit there relaxed but steady, grab a leaf, pretend like you eating it and behave like the ape. The monkeys isn't distracted on the internet 24/7 but is focused on its very surrounding 24/7 and has a million sharper instincts than you, therefor feeling any slight of stiffness or hectic move or even thought. On this video, i don't look on the animals, i look all the time on the humans how blatantly stupid they behave really, fascinating creatures claiming to be the #1 on the food chain but acts like a being out of any reality.

I'm sorry, but it's unbelievable how many negative comments were made here about the lady who was touched by the young gorilla! At first she was surely afraid, because obviously unlike many super smart commentators here she knew about the incredible strength of the gorillas. But are you all blind, that you have not seen how happy the lady finally smiled several times and almost cried with joy at this wonderful experience??? And has anyone heard what she spoke with the guide, and what he said to her??? If you have seen some of these videos, you will inevitably come to the conclusion that tourists are told not to touch the gorillas under any circumstances. Please don't condemn anyone you don't know, and if you don't know what was said then! Thanks and no offense.

Oh, I loved this! My heart went out to the lady, who was clearly overwhelmed by the experience and processing her emotions as rapidly as possible. She was in complete awe. Why aren't people more compassionate toward their fellow human beings? Not everyone reacts to stimuli in the same way. Some of the comments here are unnecessarily harsh and condemning, even demeaning (e.g., suggesting the woman has dementia). In my opinion, the lady's initial reaction was completely understandable, as she tried to break through the incredulity and fear of being touched by a gorilla in the wild. She probably would have have made more of a connection, if given more time, but, unfortunately, the moment passed. Humans can be quick to show sympathy and compassion for animals, yet find nothing but criticism in their hearts for their own species. No doubt this lady will forever cherish her rare and lovely encounter with a wild gorilla and, hopefully, she'll remember the thrill and awe of it, rather than the initial fear. Personally, I thought she was adorable and her response nothing short of priceless.

Such a shame people aren't allowed to respond to the apes' efforts to socialise with them (@2:48) - although tbh the woman looked as though she was petrified rather than overjoyed at the gorilla's tentative physical contact. And when the gorilla withdraws it's hand it brings it's fingers to its mouth @3:13 like it wants to initiate grooming; that's how they say "hi, wanna be friends?" So it's sad that we are required to give them the cold shoulder. The gorillas be all like "fine, I didn't want to eat your stupid fleas anyway!"...
