To be fair to the writers a little bit, I think you could read Betty giving Daniel the credit for the photoshoot as both a nice gesture and a tactical move on her part. By giving Daniel the credit she ensures her own position as his assistant by protecting his position at the company, and now he's doubly indebted to her because not only did she save the whole photo shoot but she also saved his reputation. So even though the two don't have this deep connection yet, it's both a decision that benefits Betty and shows us as the audience that she's a kind person
