"one's light, the other's BURNING INSTEAD!" "no it's sprite and bourbon" "fuck you, that sounds like a terrible cocktail"

Awesome song. One of my all time favorites. This is the song of the saints marching.

Lyrics: The parasites are excited when you're dead Eyes bulging, entering your head And, all your thoughts, They rot God and Satan, They gamble when you're dead Beams of light One's sprite, the other's bourbon instead And, all your thougts, they rot It was hot and time was sticking to my skin We're all the punchline to a joke that they won't let us in on And all your thoughts, They rot

Modest mouse and ugly casanova have been such a huge part of my life. Modest mouse was my first weed band, like I listened to them every smoke sesh and the classics like lonesome crowded west and long drive & this album and just couldn't of hoped for better music and some great memories with it. Seeing them live is lifelong dream, I hope one day I'll make it

I wish they recorded Too Many Fiestas for this record. I think the recording that exists is a studio recording but it would be nice to get a polish.

+cardiacade I totally agree. I hope this years ''whatever'' (golden casket vol. II) will be a touch better than ''strangers to ourselves''.

Modest mouse will always be a good listen same with ugly Casanova but there is a big diffrence in comparisons their youth and hardships to claspe what they got now. Isaac also said he was tired of being angry and sad all the time. Happy to see him do it honestly.. could ya imagine if he was heavily drinking still and using ice for inspiration for content as a grown man in his forties? I'd like to think as long as the album lonesome crowded west exist we can always praise MM for all their work and journeys we got to listen to and still get to :D

Open this in two separate windows 1 second apart, crazy. I've only gotten into Modest Mouse recently but I can't believe I didn't listen to this sooner. It kills me that I'm old enough to have seen these guys from the beginning, yet I wasn't smart enough to know about them at the time. I'm pretty sure I'd trade the 100 Phish shows I saw from 95'-04' with 100 Modest Mouse shows from 95'-02'.

Yeah man that's a bummer to hear you waited this long. I grew up in Seattle so it was good times for Modest Mouse shows!

Tuff Luff same here! I'm only 31 but seen phish more than modest mouse. I'd trade shows for sure too. been an Issac Brock fan for 14 yrs now and don't even listen to phish these days. lol
