Thanks for bringing this out to the world. I got a similar call and the caller said Amazon had taken £700 from my account and as the caller tried to go further I dropped the call. That is how much I escaped from this type of scam

Good point. If they were not born in the UK they will be deported at the end of their sentence having been sentenced to 12 months or more in prison. So after serving half their sentence they won't be released but instead be transferred to a deportation centre.

How many times do we need to learn these people from this country that's all they know scamming
@Bruce_Ma10 күн бұрын
It is the most populous country in Africa so it might have more scammers than average, but it probably has more good people than average. You do not hear about the good people because they never report on them.
@ntandowetu373310 күн бұрын
@Bruce_Ma oh I see Congo is also popular but they seem to have morals. I am not basing this on reports I am talking about the everyday nigerian even my in laws even work colleagues even the cleaners as long as they are nigerian nobody is safe. I have a friend who needs urgent funds however because his nigerian I can't the little they took its enough theres no helping people like that. Scary scary people it's was just a matter of time before the news report circulation. I think Nigerains should only stay in their country and be amongst themselves. 🤔

Your envious about this country will definitely kpai you. It takes a lot of intelligence to scam anyone. Reasons, we’re the most intelligent in the universe. Do I support these types of people, definitely not. We’re almost three hundred million, so it’s bound to have both bad and good people. But what you said is just out of hatred. Go and hug a transformer!

My bank has never called me, in fact they write only and advises that that they never call customers. Furthermore, if the bank name shows up, it means you have the bank’s phone details stored in your phone as a contact which I feel is something rare with customers all over, unless you are always in contact with your bank. Indeed their sentence was lenient but whoever spoke them were not smart as they should have checked paper work from their bank for contact numbers or check their online banking account for a contact number and call that number.

I was scammed a few years ago it's not a nice experience it's very very painful, all I could do was to call down evil on them I reported it to the police. To me 2 years is not enough for the amount they should get life for the people pain some have died due to the circumstances if being scammed, what is jokes to you is death to me, Sending them to jail for 2 years in this country is like going to college been paid for by the people they scammed they just going to learn how not to get caught. And learn new crimes for the lazy people who don't want to work, if it was the USA their time would be longer.

Their indictive malpractices can only be deterred via a rehabilitation monitored process by a social service intervention.....this again depend on the relationship with their parents they never listened to. They need the jail terms for correction and realisation.

I've had calls like that before, but the caller spoke like a UK Indian who hasn't been to university. So I asked him if he is a graduate because he doesn't sound like other bank staff I usually speak to. So he replied he is not a graduate and that he got the job through his father that does similar work. That rang alarm bells, plus he did not state my full first name, an unusual name, when he telephoned, just "Joseph." So I asked him for my middle name, which, of course, he guessed wrong.

So sad. They've mortgaged their bright future for temporary gains. Of a truth, rarely would you hear that the Hausas are involved in these kinds of crimes. Yes, they are not crime-free, but their crime rate is quite insignificant compared to that of the Yorubas and the Igbos.
