What I haven't seen here is that there are many people in the north who will never vote Tory but will give Corbyn a kick up the arse by voting Brexit Party. I have relatives in the north and they and a lot of their friends are taking this position.

I am happy to live through another 20 years of Tory austerity if it means I don't have to see Labour come to power in its current form. Labour HATES the white working-class people that built and defended this country. They will happily smile and give money to people to make them vote for a Labour MP but behind the mask of lies and deceit, they loathe every last one of them. Labour is no longer about protecting and improving the lives of the working-class, they are now about globalisation and SJW wishy-washy nonsense. Their manifesto should scare any voter with sense. It did that for my left-wing friends, it should do it for you as well.

James Richard Jeremy Clarkson-Hammond-May what London, hardly the entirety of the South. Also this is just manufactured propaganda to distract from the Labour loss of their own heartlands which massively voted to leave the EU (while their London centric party adopts a ‘neutral’ position). Bit like how Labour tried to invent an ‘Islamophobia’ scandal in the Tory Party (not that it really took off) to cover the ongoing anti Semitism scandal in the Labour Party.

Losing support? The Lib Dems are going to pick up only three seats from the Tories, if the YouGov MRP model is correct. They're getting utterly destroyed nearly everywhere in the South West. Which each of the 300,000 immigrants that we let in, we make it harder for our own people to get a job and get on a career path that could lift them out of poverty. You don't gain prosperity by getting "free" (free as in tax-payer funder) money, you gain it through hard work and the opportunities for that hard work. The BBC has a cultural left wing bias. This is because the sort of people who study film making and art at university are generally very left wing, though I would say they are more Green than Labour. But Labours problems in the North are too big to hide with any kind of bias. Labour spent years telling these people they are racists and lesser, and now they are hitting back, it's hardly a surprise. If you say "I don't want your vote" to enough people, as Labour has been doing, then soon enough you've got no voters.

Labour only reflects the opinions of metropolitan university educated left wing activists, but in doing so has been actively insulting of its working class northern voters. Remember how it used to imply that any complaint they raised meant they were effectively just a racist? That kind of thing turned those voters away from Labour. The Labour party of old doesn't actually exist anymore, and its closest counterpart is effectively the sort of Boris Johnson soft right, as opposed to the metropolitan Tories like Clarke or the hard right like Chope.

The paths for men and women to move from traditional working class jobs into front line politic's have pretty much dried up. Such a small percentage of Labour's MP's can call themselves working class is it any wonder they no longer resonate with that section of society ? Right now its a party that's trading on old tribal loyalties generations in the making..if they handle things badly in the next few years they could find themselves in the wilderness. In many ways much of the working class are just small c conservatives.. just looking for a fair deal. For the longest time that meant voting for Labour as a bulwark to the worst excesses of the Tories and there often tin eared approach to dealing with those simple desires. But when Labour stops being the champion of the working man, simply through no longer having representatives drawn from there ranks to connect them to that group....that puts the party on very shaky ground when the electorate catch on. Those voters may not flip to the Tories, but them also not voting for Labour anymore is not conducive to Labour regaining power anytime soon.

Labour's got some rocky years ahead of it unless it can repair this rift between it traditional working class voters, and its more metropolitan leaning middle class support. A good start would be to put the breaks on the system that's created a career path straight from University to the House of Commons without actually working a job that gives relatable skills to the people you intend to represent. When the Labour Party first achieved electoral success in the 1920s, more than 70% of its MPs were drawn from working-class backgrounds. This has declined drastically from the mid- 80s and in 2018 just 8% of Labour MPs were considered working-class.

@Ru22eLL Thing is that won't work well either. A tight nit strongly religious socially conservative voter block like that, generates strong opposition to a lot of Labour's more progressively liberal social views. Gay and Transgender rights for example are deep dividing issue within that community to this day. Labour struggles because it try's to straddle often deeply differing communities to pool their votes and finds itself unstuck when presented with issues that polarize those groups against each other. Just look to the mess its got itself in with its traditional Jewish support and its stance over the state of Israel's treatment of the Palestinians. Push the wrong hot topic buttons too often and entire communities can turn on you overnight.

That is downright socialism - a model that has crippled every single country it has touched. Giving people "free" money is a terrible idea. If you get something for free, you will waste it. If you work hard for something, you will conserve it. Btw the reason I put "free" in quotes is that nothing is ever free. You would just have much, much higher taxes all over the place to attempt to pay everyone a flat fee. Many of these areas are in a terrible deprived state not because of cuts, but because of rapid de-industrialisation and globalisation. These families used to have trades and independent businesses and were made redundant as their job moved overseas thanks to a transnational conglomerate.

Feel free if you have solid proof otherwise Farage suggests the higher earners and super rich pay for insurance outside the NHS and with controlled immigration will take the pressure off the current NHS. At the same time training our own doctors and nurses for the future whilst cutting our foreign aid bill in half to give extra investment without additional debt. Labour plan is to just keep throwing money raised from debt at it and keep everything more or less the same. They propose spend, spend, spend increasing our current debt which is costing £40bn per year in interest payments alone and the next generation will be forced to pay it back. You can’t just keep increasing debt and expecting things to get easier.

Corbyn has voted against any privatisation of the NHS at every opportunity: www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/10133/jeremy_corbyn/islington_north/votes What your Tory master suggests already happens. 11% of people have private healthcare. What he's talking about is privatisation. Junior Doctors are leaving the NHS in their droves due to the contracts the Tories forced on them. A third of NHS Doctors are immigrant, about 14% of the general population is. But you say immigration is a problem for the NHS? Explain. Most immigrants are young and working age-- that's why governments love them. It's old people who are the biggest expense, by far. They're much sicker. Have you ever been in a hospital? And I'm not in favour of mass immigration, these are just facts. New Labour did a lot of shady shit. It did a lot of good stuff but it was all built on a housing bubble (caused, partly, by building zero council houses) and a fraudulent financial sector which became the biggest in Europe, as well as PFIs which burdened the NHS and schools with huge debts. Farage has literally just joined a coalition with the Tories and you still think he's for the working man lol. Another couple of decades of Tory rule and this country will be like the US for worker's rights, healthcare, home owner rights, benefits etc etc. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trade_Union_Act_2016 If you think that's worth the trade-off of leaving the EU and having maybe 100k less immigrants each year (because the Tories have completely failed to bring it down to 10s of thousands), then I think you're making a big mistake.

Olek Olek yes Labour are now relying on ethnic minorites (particularly blacks and muslims, they've scared away Successful minorities like Indians and jews), younger liberal minded people and champagne socialists.

Is anyone still voting for the same party that's been in control for the past 9 years? If so, why?

Because the alternative is... - A far left communist state project that'll take us back to the 70's. - A party that is infested with Jewish racism. - Jeremy Corbyn premiership - A rigged EU referendum between Remain vs Labour Remain minus - A nightmare minority coalition with the SNP THAT WOULD HAPPEN and lead to the collapse of the UK in 2021.

And because most people don't want to put Labour in power (even worse) just for the sake of something different.

@@owen5847 First of all labour are not the only alternative to the conservatives. There are green party, etc., alternatives. Secondly, life in the 70s where a family of four could live on one persons salary and mortgages had 10/20 year lifespans rather than 40/50 ones does not sound so bad. Public services weren't at the mercy of corporations and unions could be better counted on. Oh, and Socialism birthed the NHS, asshole (which is being put on the table to be dismantled by the current party in power). I suppose you don't mind? The racism claim is questionable. The current PM has on the record used racist slurs ('letterbox/picanniny'), and the last PM of the same party was responsible for the wind rush fiasco (institutionalised racism at it's finest). Your EU comment needs clarification as it makes no grammatical sense (or it does and its 2am?). Also devolving the UK may not be such a bad thing (providing the leeches at buck house are removed first). Wales has been getting the short end of the deal for a very long time also. It is time for a change; real change for the many and not the few if you ask me. Also, can I just say that it is truly amazing how quick bullshit conmentators jump on any mention of an alternative to the current status quo, are you guys getting paid waiting on standby?

@@fingerscrossed2453 The left is dying out, that's a fact. Socialism has never worked. Trump, Brexit, Boris. You deserve it all. You arrogant maniacs don't know how to resignate or talk to anyone anymore. You just name call and demonise anyone who disagrees with you. You accept nothing that doesn't go your way. And you refuse to listen to anyone else. I'm enjoying every moment of this. Have fun losing again next week.

@@owen5847 it's laughable that you're so hateful of a doctrine that basically holds sharing taxes with the the poorest in society with such distain. I feel sorry for you. on on the one hand i hope you never have to use something like the NHS because you sound like you do not deserve it, because you do not have any respect for it. On the other hand if your words do come to pass (god forbid), I hope that one day you do need the national health and have trouble accessing it, so you leant to appreciate it (in retrospect, if nothing else)...and for nothing too bad, maybe just like a papercut or whatever. socialism is always hijacked by the small selfish b*st*rds that see the good that can be achieved when the sweat off the brow of the people is put back to them, and then try and profit off of it. I have not trouble accepting the theft of the people - I see what has happened to society in the past 40 years since there was last a socialist government in the country. The unions were eroded, leading to workers becoming slaves again while corporations have been able to get away with absconding from paying a fair amount of tax whist simultaneously offering increasingly shittier customer service. Banks have been deregulated, industries have been sold off (along with jobs). And yet the left dwindles, as people realise they have nowhere left to turn as their government turns against them and towards the billionaires which have infiltrated them. maybe it was always like this, but is more obvious now? Anyway, I digress. Here's hoping the majority of the nation have make more sense than your rambling - I don't have much faith, but I at least have some hope. As for arrogance, I can think of little more arrogant than the statement 'have fun losing again', as if it is a sure thing.

Just keep spreading the word and show people page 71 of the Labour Manifesto. Close French Migrant camps, invite them and their famlies here, close the detenion camps here, and resume rescue efforts in the med, see if voters are happy about that. It's there in black and white.

Voting Labour because their fathers, and fathers before them, also voted Labour. They don't realise that the party their family had such faith in has now turned on them and their heritage. I'm seeing a lot of my friends turn towards Tory for the first time because they've realised just how extreme Labour has become.
