I'm no longer surprised by this sort of stuff, there's a development going up in my nearest town and they had to install a roundabout to link it to the road into town. They made the roadway around the roundabout too narrow to fit a car on and didn't notice till they had finished and tried getting their lorries into the sight only to find they got stuck on the center of the roundabout trying to get round. Their solution was to demolish the center, cover it with some extra grippy surface and have a roundabout where anything larger than a small hatchback has no choice but to drive straight over the middle 🤦
@nvelsen19759 ай бұрын
I'd criticise that but let's be honest: Most people in the UK prefer to blast through a roundabout in a straight line anyway. 😉
@fools_opinions9 ай бұрын
Unfortunately you can't even blast through it, they originally couldn't buy a sliver of a neighbouring garden so they pushed the pavement out into the road making the exit into town go from 2 lanes into 1 then 10ft later back to 2 so you have to stop for anything entering the roundabout. But after a while the owners sold the bit of garden so they extended the pavement back into that space but couldn't be bothered to reinstate the 2 lanes in the road so now the pavement there is double width and the road half width.

My daughters home from Avant (Gold standard) 🤣 was handed over on the 1st lockdown day. She was chucked the keys & the handover was basically goodbye, we are now closed. We found over 114 snags, it needed the whole kitchen replacing, the shower had tiles sticking out more than 5mm. When he came to fix it, they said the site manager did it. They ripped the dry wall down, replaced it with standard dry wall. I let him finish & asked if it's moisture resistant dry wall (he said yes) he came back an hour later & painted white paint on it. (not tanking paint) I just tear it down or we go to the press again, he did, they put the right stuff on. All this took forever because of Covid, shutdown, 2mtr rules etc. My daughter worked as a nurse in those covid wards & avant couldn't have been more obnoxious. More like sub standard than gold.

And don’t get me started on the finish of the plastering! Loose wall sockets, a leaky vanity sink in the downstairs loo. This year they are having all of the lawn taken up and a good quality lawn put back in place because the old one is like a mud pit throughout winter! 280,000 for a two and a half bedroom house! Some of that brickwork is poor quality no doubt but regards the perp sizes,its well known that bricks especially clay ones vary massively in size so as a result your gunna have diiferent size joints...If you want perps plumb then the joint size will be different,if you want 10mm perps then the bond will be all over...Cant have it both ways...Also isnt brickwork supposed to be judged from 10meters away?? You could scrutinise even the best of brickwork when you have your nose against it...I,m not defending the brickwork because it is poor in areas (Not so bad in others) i,m offering some perspective...materials now are terrible when it comes to size discrepancy this includes block and stone also...They could of done better Yes but like i say even the best brickwork can be scrutinsed when your literally butt upto it.

What a joke 😂, how can any brickie think this is ok, if it's that bad outside imagine what the inside must be like😮. Crazy but the building trade loves to take on cheap foreign labour, and you get what you pay for employing people that ain't qualified to do the job. It's greed on the developer's part as they want it built as quickly as possible and as cheap as possible. So they have higher profits. I'd love to walk around this house with the actual developer as I'd rip it to bits, that whole front and back should be knocked down and rebuilt. I feel sorry for customers that haven't got a clue and get stitched up, it's ridiculous when house's now cost hundreds of thousands of pounds and they think they can sell it like this 😞. Indeed absolutely shocking 👍.
