I have had one on the road since Jan here in Shanghai, great car more of a cruiser than sports car, quality and performance OK - I have KZbin small blog on the ownership, we have lifetime guarantee on the battery and driveline, limited to 30k km a year - boot is electronically operated from the key or the app - she should have looked at the key closely, unfortunately its not operable from inside the car. I dislike the fake noises - we turn these off, actually very good energy consumption ~ 12 kW/100 close to our Tesla Model Y long range, I hope you can enjoy it in the UK - The hood is from Magna ex. BMW Z4 so quality is also good - battery and driveline is MG4 - ours is red with red interior - I should add I am a brit ex-pat living in Shanghai over 21 years.

Good review! I think its great and a real successor to MG's history. What looks even better however, and adds a healthy dose of practicality is GTS Coupe they just revealed. MG have really got ahead of the competition! At completely the orher end of the range, i recently got the new MG3 HYBRID as my daily car, and afterxalmost 3 months remain hugely impressed with the value for money. One thing though, MG UK need to up their game in terms of Customer Service. At the budget end of the market a hopeless lack of knowledge about the product is one thing, but as you move upmarket the customers will expect more! I think it was at the Geneva Motor show, they displayed a so far only Chinese market saloon (sold in China possibly as an im), badged as an MG9. It looked fantastic as a sort of four door coupe, and as competition to a Porsche Taycan so refreshingly different. Along with the Cyberster Roadster and Coupe, that could really establish the MG Brand amongst the usual premium German brands in the UK and Europe, afterall for people of my age (59) the name MG has real heritage, which could easily be spread to include thevyounger generation. All that said MG UK (I dont know how things are in Europe), will have to be more mindful of a more demanding customer base.

There are even debates as to whether it's even any more efficient than regen braking.

The laws of electrification prevent small cars from having great range. More batteries, more car, more weight, more range. Less batteries, less car, less weight, less range. Take your pick. One or the other. You can’t alas, have both. This is a great looking car though and I suspect that precious weight could be saved if those doors weren’t electric. Why not manual? Does it have electric seats? If so, weight could also be saved by making them manual. Every kilo matters -especially with a sports car. Mazda will tell you that.
