My local patch. Nothing like Switzerland, but then it doesn’t need to be. Exmoor is lovely enough.

I live in Western North Carolina in the USA. Some of the scenery in this video reminds me so much of what the Blue Ridge Mountains look like, but you also have the beauty of the ocean, which is absolutely amazing.

Lynton and Lynmouth is the main area known as Little Switzerland I believe. The route through from Lynton through the Valley of Rocks, Lee Abbey to Martinhoe is beautiful.

“Little Switzerland” refers specifically to the town of Lynton, which has some chalet-style architecture, particularly along the main drag. Also, the houses cling to a fairly steep sided bowl-shaped valley.

Lynton is called ‘Little Switzerland’ mainly because of the architecture of many of it’s buildings.

I notice that people in the UK tend to compare one place to another a lot . These English people visited the Blue Mountains National Park NSW Australia and they said that this national park has nothing on New Forest National Park in England . I would like to visit this region of England one day . I would love to visit the places that you have shown us in this video too ! Thank you for your lovely video .

Hello, I am new to your channel, I am from Spain, a pleasure, I love your videos and the routes you do are impressive, how beautiful the United Kingdom is, I love doing routes through nature and fairytale villages. I also usually do mountain and sea routes along trails, if any of you come to Spain I can do some routes that I know, I hope my English is understood xD, since I am not a native but I am learning English.

That area was never covered in glaciation. The glaciation reached down to south Wales, and no further at its maximum extent. That area is also Devon, with part of Exmoor in Somerset. It is quintessentially Westcountry, unlike the rest of 'England'. From Cornwall.

If you think this taste of Britain (UK for American viewers ) is beautiful and interesting, you should meet the British. The Beans are so beautiful and intelligent (Intreaguging, Intreaguging, intereauing, whatever) but of no comparison to the rest of the specimens of Britishness on our sceptered Isle. I know a bloke who can drink 14 pints in one session and eat 7 large pies with chips and mushy peas in one go.

Apart from the Ponies, Goats and the Pheasant, you didn't happen to see any Big Cats? Exmoor is reputed to have one or two, not black like Bodmin's Beast but more like a Lynx. 🧔👸👍🐎🐎🐆🐐🐐

truly lovely stream, that. does Switzerland have trees, green grass and very narrow roads? perhaps that's where the Little Switzerland comes from? and, speaking as an Anglophile Yank, yes, indeed, English is pretty bloody epic! it's really called "The Valley of the Rocks"? someone couldn't come up with anything more original than that??? ha! I see, it's named that for the GEOLOGICAL bit. ok. and you didn't think the goats would poop rocks, did you, so that poo is to be expected. :-)

Did you visit Lynmouth or is it Lynton, the cute village with the funicular? That place looked a bit Swiss to me. It was flooded in the 60s I think and since been rebuilt. there's a dodgy home made model of the old town in one of cute buildings

Excuse me!!!!! It is not the "Valley of THE Rocks" it's the "Valley of Rocks" with no "The" in the middle. I lived in Lynton, and spent a lot of time at the "Valley of Rocks". The Goats belong there, they are wild. They were getting closer because they thought you were a danger to their Kids. And by the way, if you scream like that on the top of Ragged Jack, you will be lucky not to be butted off the cliff by the Alpha Male goat and fall 800 feet to the sea. There are many beautiful drives and walks around my home, Exmoor. And when you make information videos, please get the information correct. There was no river, it was a GLACIER which formed the "Valley of Rocks" during the Ice Age!!

This would be a great video if it wasn't for the innuendo and swearing just over half way through. I can't now show this to children who would really benefit from seeing a video showing the beauty of England. In effect, it's now a 15 rated video.
