Thank you for this Francis. Hard to believe this was 30 years ago. Duff summer, average musically but the video kicks into gear towards the second half. You revive many good memories 👍 Belarus (e) was a new country then. The year of the reggae revival and Eurodance making itself known. The suntan song, I doubt anyone had a suntan if they stayed in the UK that summer 😂 Suzette's song found a new lease of life under Katie Price 🤣🤣 Snow was destined to be a one hit wonder. My top favourites is 'Livin On My Own' by the legendary Freddie Mercury. He could have sang the alphabet and it'd have been perfect. Wonderful remix (the original is cool too) of a great song. A true floorfiller. The excellent 'Dreamlover' by Mariah Carey. She was on fire then. A recently deceased relative who passed this week, made a rude comment about her and the field. SWVs 'Right Here'. An excellent use of the Michael Jackson sample and a classic. Best time for all female black girl groups. The other is Madonna's 'Rain'. One of her best songs and ballads. She was so beautiful with her short black hair. Me and my sister used to call it 'Brain' oddly enough. The local Brummie reggae boys of Bitty McLean, UB40 and Apache Indian (who is from my part of Birmingham) with their tracks as well as Inner Circle's classic and Mary J. Good list 👍

One note: On the August 1993 release, Give It Up by The Goodmen peaked at #23. It only reached #5 after a re-issue later that year in October.

He's also put the wrong peak for Mary J. Blige's "Real Love" as it never reached the top 10, it stalled at #26 (not #8 as stated in the video).

You can tell it's the early 90s. Lot's of dodgy covers out there. Thanks for another top quality upload Francis.

I absolutely loved Oui 3, their album "Oui Love You" was one of my most played albums of 1993. Sad that their music isn't on Spotify. Shara Nelson's "What Silence Knows" was also one of my favourite albums of 93 and D:Ream's "On Vol 1" completes my top 3 albums of 93 (I had a massive crush on Peter Cunnah of D:Ream.) Paul Weller's "Wild Wood" is such a beautiful song and I still love Carter USM (though in 1993 I was massively into 2 Unlimited and today I'd rarely listen to their songs). I'm so eclectic that from this video I bought the songs by: 2 Unlimited, Bad Boys Inc, Stone Temple Pilots, Shara Nelson, Apache Indian, Lena Fiagbe, Dannii Minogue, D: Ream, Take That, Janet Jackson, Yazz & Aswad, Ice Cube, Sinclair, SWV, Mariah Carey, Terence Trent D'Arby, Lenny Kravitz, Kim Wilde and the Levellers!

In the UK in the 80s and 90s it was quite common for anyone who had a little bit of fame to release a single. Footballers were quite common on the UK charts (I have no interest in football so I can't name them, but a few had some big hits). It wasn't limited to footballers, e.g. boxer Frank Bruno also had a UK top 40 hit.

@@dominewimbury2039 Diamond Lights is an under-appreciated classic. The kind of thing Dua Lipa or Nicki Minaj should be sampling on their next "bop". ;)

15:03 Mary J. Blige definitely did not peak at #8 with Real Love, that song did not even reach the top 20, it peaked at #26. Furthermore, Mary wouldn't score a UK top 10 single for several years (1995 as a featured artist, or 1997 solo).
