I'm an American and for some reason it was really nice watching you guys enjoying some of our parks so much. I love Cedar Point, too, even though it's a 12 hour drive or so from me. My mother's family has a lake house on Lake Erie so when I was a kid we'd go to Cedar Point every summer. It really holds a special place in my heart. I don't know if it's just the association with my childhood or what but I really feel like it's a special park.

Mark Cardwell Hi Mark, thank you, really grateful for your feedback 😀 I adore Cedar Point, such a fantastic park and I’m so sad our trip in two weeks time is cancelled.

Scott, I'm saying this quite sincerely (no pun intended on my username!) you and the gang are on a trip that will rate right up there and for some in your group might be (and remain) the trip of a lifetime. Enjoy it, make sure you let everything sink in (so you don't come home feeling you've blinked and missed it) looking forward to seeing all the updates. And yeah, if anyone was going to be stopped at customs ...

Sometimes you are far better hiring multiple vehicles, dumping it off back at the airport and flying between NYC and Cleveland. Getting a new car is often better, hindsight though. Still some good vlogs to come, going to be good I think. The USA can be like a tempting buffet but you really need to manage your time, amount of park action and the travel to fully enjoy it without trying to scoff the lot as quickly as possible.

Marc M I don’t think we’ll make a road trip out of Cedar Point again but will definitely consider internal flights when planning on doing other parks.

When you consider our own parks aren't always accessible via public transport either (cough Alton cough) it's mostly the same story as it is here really. I wonder if it's easier to fly direct to Detroit or stop in New York and fly to Cleveland from there
@miiiiiturn
@miiiiiturn 5 жыл бұрын
@@visionist7 Don't think direct flights are available to Detroit from the UK? Certainly weren't when I looked a few months back.... We are considering flying into Toronto, doing Canada's Wonderland then going onto CP

Did you do all the driving, Scott? I empathise with you. I had to do all the driving on our road trip since Zack hasn’t started driving yet. I drove from Pittsburg to Hotel Breakers on arrival at 11.30pm - didn’t check in till 4am - wouldn’t recommend that but we had no choice after missing connection at Atlanta (got held up at Immigration). Worst journey I did was cedar point to Super 8 hotel near Kings Island. Left at 8.30pm after a full day of riding coasters. Took nearly 5 hours including a stop for MacDonald’s. I was totally shattered! I’ll get round to doing a travel vlog of our trip at some point but when we do another US roadtrip, I’ll build in some rest time eg a day of no parks to recover! Florida for us next year because enough has changed since we last went to justify it.

Felice Graziano definitely - if I’m being honest, that’s the main driver for going back to Florida soon, but also looking forward to DHS because 2 years ago it was essentially a building site. there’s also the new Harry Potter ride amongst other things. Busch Gardens Tampa is my favourite park in Florida though.

Pleasure Beach Experience that’s lucky! At Atlanta, we had only 1 hr40 mins to make the connection - presumably why our flight was cheap as the connection after that one was far more expensive. The flights cost us £1400 from memory - that’s for 3 of us to fly from Manchester to Pittsburg via Atlanta on Virgin/Delta with seats sat together (no surcharge), meals and unlimited drinks on the long haul part. So the plane came in to Atlanta pretty much on time but we were sat at back of plane so we were one of last off it. Then in Immigration the queue was enormous and not enough border guards on duty. It took an age to get through. Then pick up cases to do customs to then put them on conveyer before one more run through security. Again, a long queue for only one bag scanner. After that, transit to right bit of terminal then a long walk to gate. Kids couldn’t go fast and while I made it with seconds to spare, they wouldn’t wait any longer and closed the gate. Delta were good and booked us onto a flight to JFK but then needed another to Pittsburg, landing at 11.30 pm. I was bloody knackered by time I sat down in hire car! I still don’t know how I managed to drive to Cedar Point in that state! Driving past the coasters lit up at night was special and I soon forgot how bad I felt. What an amazing place Cedar Point is. All of us enjoyed this park and the whole road trip. We are talking about doing another in the future, perhaps with parks like 6 flags in NJ, Carrowinds, Kentucky Kingdom, Busch Gardens Williamsburg but with some days off in between to look at civil war stuff and anything to do with war of independence, which I am fascinated by. Certainly go back to Cedar- it’s hard to describe how amazing this place is to anyone who hasn’t been before, but it really is a place like no other.
