I'm a hobby woodworker with limited skills but every time I watch one of your videos I'm blown away by the way you produce such excellent results with apparently minimal effort. You do things so effortlessly and explain the process in simplistic terms, so much so that I try and emulate you. My results are often adequate but not to your exacting standard, therefore with no malice, I must say, Robin Clevitt I bloody hate you!!!!

We done a job last year very similar, extension and loft conversion then the client kept adding extras like those doors. We had 14 double doors in total and 1 full height wardrobe all into the void spaces which were also fully boarded and plasterd!! Some clients have a really addiction for storage access to every inch

Hi Robin, would you not have considered using a line attached to both ends and simply bring the four other uprights to the line, that way all the heads are in perfect linemen. You could do the same thing at the bottom. Just a suggestion

I've got a big space under my stairs which I've just started stripping back making up some studding and plaster boarding, but I'm not over confident in building the frame work for the pull out draws that will fit into the void, be brilliant to see something on that...chippy wanted over 2k to do.

You could even set up a laser at the top of the jamb height and measure to the floor what size styles you need based off the laser height

@LeeTillbury

I would double up on my fixings, wet plaster will tend to cup the timber if it's not properly fixed along its full width.
@ukconstruction
@ukconstruction Жыл бұрын
The plasterer uses a water proof tape on the linings during plastering and we control the moisture by dehumidification in the evenings, this completely stops any excess moisture being absorbed by the lining, we always double fix main door linings etc
@LeeTillbury
@LeeTillbury Жыл бұрын
@@ukconstruction Hmmm. Timber is always on the move and you're not going to be there forever with your dehumidifier. Double fixings every time.

This is a joy to watch, Robin. Genuine question: is it realistic to expect, or even possible to find, a tradesperson that has this attention to detail and care? Given most customers won’t necessarily know what to look for, how can those of us hiring determine whether someone will take a proper level of care and pride like you do?

Just live in a house where there is no reason why everything should not be 100% plumb and square, but is anything but (This is a lot of houses, new and old builds) and you will soon learn why the laser level is not always the answer. Having everything beautifully level in a wonky building looks really out of place. That said I love my stabila tools.
@jimh4072

@@MarkUKInsects. My uncles friend is a plasterer and he says the same thing. He once plastered a reveal in a new window opening, the customer was a doctor not a builder but insisted that he knew the edges should be 100% to the laser line. Customers wife came in to look and said it made the rest of the wall look weird, she made him redo it until it “looked right” 😂😂😂
