What I'd like to see, if possible, is an explanation of how to balance chords and melody, that is, do you try for a 50/50 split, or is it more technical than that? It's intriguing and a great way to break the monotony of strummed accompaniment or just melody-picking.

Well... it is possible to play a chord on beats 2 and 4 or 1 and 2 or all the combinations in between and play the melody as well. It's your preference, Sally. The question is when do you want to hear just the melody. Most anything is possible with a good chart and practice

@@ukemullum Thanks, I think I get that, now. It's about allowing the melody to come through but at the same time adding some sort of depth or colour via the use of chords.

@@sallybilzon3507 Yes and rhythm. Depending on where you choose to 'land' a chord. To start with the bests 2 and 4 are a good option. It's easier on beats 1 and 3 generally.
