Gates at Wye Level Crossing, Kent

I find it incredible they still have such an old crossing when trains like the Javelin are passing through so fast. I wonder if they are planning upgrades.

Yeah, funny that the fastest train in the UK is passing the oldest type of crossing in the UK at Wye and Chartham. It's a busy line so I don't know why they haven't been upgraded. As far as I know there's no plans yet.

@@aidanstrains9806 One of. The 390 Pendolino and the Javelin both had a testing top speed of 140mph.

@@aidanstrains9806 the difference is that whilst the pendolino can hit 140MPH, for the lines it operates on, it never goes above 125. However, because the javelin operates on HS1, with a higher speed limit, it can hit 140MPH.

Great Video! I imagine that in the Netherlands, were I live, that the crossings would be closed at this way. That would be the reason for a big mess on the rails as on the way. Surely if the train stops at the middle of the crossing.

Thanks! 🙂 Platforms are usually extended so trains do not block the crossing. However, when they do, they do not block the road for more than 1 minute on average.

Very rare crossing, with manual gates. Though, not a fan of these trains that stops in the level crossing. So, we have 395s passing on one of the busiest line in Kent, the road itself seems quite busy as well, but here we see a manual crossing. That's quite dangerous in such a busy road and line, not only for car drivers, but also for the men that close gates.
