Civilian evacuations are underway in Ukraine's Donetsk region - with Russia stepping up its attacks since claiming full control of neighboring Luhansk.
The city of Slovyansk has become a main target for shelling, but towns across Ukraine's east are being bombarded. Missiles struck Kharkiv on Wednesday, destroying a university. Ukrainian forces have dug in with new defensive lines - and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Western-supplied weapons were finally making a difference on the battlefield.

Exactly. Trading non-strategic and difficult to defend Sievierdonesk for time is important when your defensive strategy is to hold out as more and more equipment funnels in, and not trading lives and resources for what only amounts to a fraction of your strategic goals. Putin is racing a clock. I'm looking at Snake Island "goodwill" exchange as an example of a non-strategic retreat. That island was a lynchpin for a blockade that was working, but Russia was trading lives and equipment, not time-- and so they lost it.

Also Germany only has few nuclear powerplants left, it's not really economically sensible and not save to keep them running longer then planned. That stated, read the following thrice carefully and and please only discerning, wise and questioning persons respond : Back in October 2019, as a World Peace Advocate, Independent Student Scholar of History, Geopolitics, Wars & Civilizations and Independent Security Analyst and Theorist HAD concluded that we ( North America, NATO member countries and THE WEST) are on a path towards WW3 due to the US-CHINA TRADE WAR begun by the Trump Administration back in early 2018, The Arrest of the CFO of Huawei Meng Whenzou by the RCMP in Canada in order to honor an extradition treaty with the USA, other geopolitical events, & the historical event known as Pearl Harbor. Even assuming Ukraine can feed it's own population what about those who used to receive most of those exports? North and East Africa, the Levant and Middle East, and let's not forget China has just had it's worst harvest since Mao last killed millions of his own people through incompetence and ideologically driven agricultural plans. I hesitate to say this, not being a warmonger, but at some point Ukraine is going to need a lot more support on all fronts if it is to beat the Bear back. -Helping defend a sovereign state against an aggressor is the right thing to do and so the only reason one needs to lend help. -But if Ukraine isn't supported to full victory there can be no doubt Russia in the shape of Putin will continue to grab territory and influence - history!

Hundreds of Russian troops were killed and injured, ammunition destroyed and maintenance facilities destroyed in just one attack on a base in the region, and that is just one of many attacks on logistics. That was confirmed by local officials. We don't know why Putin announced the rest pause in the East, it may well be because of losses in men and loss of ammunition depots. Ukraine has even manged to take back some land in the north of the Lysychansk "cauldron". Russia's economy is in meltdown and the price of oil is dropping and set to keep dropping.

Actually, satellite images show that a huge artillery battle is underway -- by both Ukraine and Russia. Putin just lost a major (forward) [helicopter] air base in southern Ukraine -- the one supporting the Kherson direction. Oops. HIMARS just gutted it. HIMARS has such range that Moscow is having to re-think its logistics. All this while, the southwest front is being used to 'blood' green brigades. In this, Kyiv is replicating the Soviet experience during WWII.

If you do a bit more research, oh you know that thing called the internet? you might find that the UKR military has rquested a news blackout/ hiatus on reporting from the Kherson region. Now while ruzzian bots might spin it as a 'nothing is happening', those of us that read history will remember Churchill learning that Coventry was to be bombed but chose to not evacuate as it would tip the germans off that we had broken the enigma code. I prefer to think that given their stalwart defence of Kiev and their tactical withdrawals against overwhelming odds in the east whilst inflicting serious casualties. I think that the UKR generals actually know how to fight a war, whereas the ruzzians rely on total annihilation of ground as a 'victory'.

The equipment they are getting from the west is superior in range and accuracy than what the Russians have, while still insufficient at present they will/are having an effect and as more come with trained up operators (this takes some time) they will start to take out the Russian artillery and missile sites, for now taking out the depots and command/observation posts is the best use for these. I wish the West would call 'Spewtins 🤮Bluff' and send airpower to at least protect these systems from Russian air strikes. I doubt he can win if he escalates.

Much better to give up land and retreat with as few losses as possible. No one else is helping them so human soldiers are the one thing they cannot buy or replace at the moment. It also makes the cities easier to retake and worth it to retake if you don't completely destroy them in the fighting, though Russia seems intent to destroy everything regardless.

Also Ukraine: Ukrainian Military not impressed with western artillery. Too complicated, gets damaged too often, does not hold the fire rate promised. Do some research. Also Ukraine: Western provided heavy weapons sold - also to Russia, who got 2 French Caesar systems for 120.000 USD each. ALSO Ukraine: There now are only 2 operating HIMARS systems as 2 already were destroyed. Without nuclear weapons, those will simply not make a difference. They are no wunderwaffe.

Your lord sure is weak against evil. I trust in Santa Clause to have more power and ability to help. Same difference both are a fantasy magic figure of your imagination. Read your Bible, it says God puts people in high places which means he is the one who gives life to Putin each day and the one who put him in power. Your God is the enemy, not a savior. He gets off to War and killing, it is has been his entertainment since Cain and Able. I guess if believing in Magic works for you, go for it, it is a false hope believing in any sort of Good all powerful God. You can't have both a good and an all powerful God who allows evil, unless he and his word is a lie.

Why has no news sources researched the eastern Ukraine & Caspian oil and gas fields? These fields are significant. If Russia controlled them Russia would have Europe in a bind. If Ukraine regains these areas EU will be free of Russian oil dependence. Is this another oil war? Do your own research.

Putin comes back from the afterlife and goes to a bar in Moscow. He is very curious to know if Russia is still a great Empire. He keeps asking questions to the barman. “So, is Crimea still ours?” The barman answers: “Yes, Mr. President.” “And Donbass belongs to us?” “Yes, Mr. President.” “So, Russia is the most powerful state in the world?” “Yes, Mr. President.” “That is very good.
