Look into Russian airborne radar and you’ll understand why the US military never felt threatened for 24+ years. They are just starting to felid their first airborne Aesa in the su57. Not only that to read up on Egypt testing Su35s and Rafale’s to buy them. The Rafale made the Irbis-e PESA on the Su35 useless with its EW suite. It had first look, first shot, and first kill against the Su35s every-time when it’s ECM was on. After seeing what Israel did to Iranian IADS it’s safe to say whoever dominates the EM spectrum wins the war.

As long we ignore the fact that before the Ukraine war it's never been used in combat against an enemy with an actual airforce (and now 35 have been confirmed destroyed by various means) then it's safe to say it's almost certainly the greatest and most deadly fighter of all time! @@Jimmy-ye3wg On paper Russian arms all seem to be at par or better than or close to western weapons. War after war, on any head on match basically since after Korea the only way Russian arms perform is en mass. Their aircraft in particular seem good at being forced to do extremely hard uncontrolled landings that are often dispersed over a large area. This war in particular where Russia has its's best on the line against severely outnumbered, 2nd rate, retired, and obsolete Western equipment is really telling. It is a wonder that any country in the world that has a choice will still buy Russian arms after this war. The F16 entered service in 1980 while the SUx 34 entered service only 10 years ago in 2014. Everyone knows how good the F-16 is. That's why so many of our allies buy them. But the key is training, and lots of practice time. Without that, the real potential of the F-16 can't be realized. *Take it from a former F-16 pilot. The most dangerous part of the F-16 is the A.I. down link to the Spy Satellite network just 600 miles overhead providing situational awareness. They can see the color of the pilots gloves and read the name on the captains jet. The AI builds a philological profile of the pilot and knows his every move 60 seconds before he actually makes them. When time is critical fire control is handed off the AI during the critical phase. This gives the F-16 pilot an incredible edge since the AI is Calculating Trillions of out comes per second as the two planes scream towards each other closing at 3000 feet per second. The F-16 fires, turns at 6 G's and dives for the earth at mach 2.4 and shes gone in a flash, nothing for the Russian missiles to lock on to while their fate is sealed.*

What's the mystery? The Su-34 has been one of Russia's most heavily lost combat aircraft. The Oryx website, which keeps an up-to-date list of aircraft lost by both sides, lists at least 35 of these attack planes lost, including shootdowns and accidents. (Oct 14, 2024) A Patriot surface-to-air missile system is also a candidate for SU-34 shootdowns.

1. We are talking about a couple dozen F16 in total given to Ukraine, against 500 jets remaining in Russia. 2. F16 nowadays routinely perform Russian missile and Shahed drone hunting missions, striking them down almost every day. 3. F16 which were given to Ukraine, are not exactly "new" plains. Most of them are given because they are being decommissioned from service in EU countries. And they are far from being in top configuration, i.e. not fully modernized. So what outcome do you expect? They are already doing in Ukraine more than thinkable. But don't expect them to win the war, crush the entire Russian Ari force, etc.

So,... If Ukrainian pilots don`t have enough seat time to properly use an F-16, that begs the question of "who" is actually flying them into combat? There are many, many, former experienced pilots that could get paid really well as mercenaries. The CIA has often requested "temporary" duty of certain Special Ops Forces members for some of their missions, where they are actually spies because they are out of uniform. Whoever is flying these F-16`s, and getting SU-34`s, is most likely NOT a Ukrainian. An F-16 is a LOT of money to waste on inexperienced pilots.

3:23 - Actually, no. The F16 was to supplement, the F15. The F15 was originally intended as the air superiority fighter, while the less expensive, F16, from the start was lower cost multirole fighter, that could also attack ground targets. That's how the Israelis used them to destroy Iraq's nuclear facility, for making weapons grade materials. Over the decades though, later variants of both aircraft, equipped them for roles, never imaged, way back when.
