Ukrainian Troops in Poland for Training on Leopard 2 Tanks | VOANews

More than 100 members of the Ukrainian military are in Poland for intense training on the German-made Leopard 2 battle tanks. Ukrainian leaders say the tanks, promised by Western allies three weeks ago, will help save lives and play a key role in the fight against Russian forces. What are you talking about? Federal Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius visits the Panzer Troops School in Munster on Monday, February 20, 2023. He would like to find out personally about the training of Ukrainian soldiers on the Leopard 2 A6 main battle tank and the Marder 1 A3 infantry fighting vehicle.

I compare what the Ukrainian army was like in 2014, when I first became interested in this topic, and today. This is one of the best armies in Europe in terms of combat capability. We just need to give Ukraine equipment, and there are already strong fighters there

It's pretty clear that putin underestimated Ukrainian army and Ukrainian people, he thought it will be another easy war against a much weaker opponent (or maybe he was not even expecting resistance at all, judging by the first days of the invasion). But Ukrainians have proven him wrong. And now watching these guys training and learning how to use Leopards and other modern weaponry - it's obvious that due to their eagerness and morale putin's murderers don't have a chance to win.

For sure, this is why russians are so afraid of us providing tanks and IFVs to Ukraine. They know they have nothing to answer with. Poland already sent 72 KRAB howitzers, 460 tanks and armoured vehicles and fighter jets to Ukraine as donation but names them as "spare parts". german government promised to send 14 Leo2 but good news is that germany have 550 Leopard2 tanks that should be sent to help Ukraine, even more germany have 140 fighter jets that should be sent to help Ukraine. Ukraine urgently needs fighter jets and only 300 Leopard2 tanks to defend and stop russian invasion.

Definitely will have to get quite a few of the soviet jets in use or in storage in NATO countries for that, western systems will been a very long term goal and something I do not think Ukraine should wait on, at least while they need assets to prevent themselves from loosing and to end the war faster. Fighter jets are a system that'll be quite difficult to get a hold of, supply, maintain, and time intensive to train on. Unlike ground systems which could take months, to train a jet pilot will take like 2 years. Not to mention the level of miniatous required and having to train personnel already used to soviet systems to work on western systems.
