This is the best series! I started learning AE six months ago in order to apply for a job as a video editor. I had never used it prior and the first video in this series was a huge advantage to watch as a beginner. Needless to say, I landed the job, and I will certainly keep watching. Thanks!

29:00 one thing about reusing a Null - is that a null when created from the menu is a peculiar solid, while it is set to 0% transparency, you can't make it visible, even if you change the opacity it won't be visible - however if you duplicate the null in a comp or drag it from the Solids folder it looses this feature. It's something I wish the After Effects Engineers could figure out, I love if Nulls retained their properties inside the Solids folder, or when you duplicated a Null.

Hi Sergei. Really love your channel, especially your AE tutorials. Is there any chance you could do a tutorial on the camera in After Effects please ? It's an area that really gets me frustrated, but is something that's used all the time and would love to perfect. Thanks !

Thanks, Alan! I agree, Camera in AE can be a bit frustrating. I'll keep it in mind next time I'm looking for an idea to do tutorial on.

Hi Sergei! Thanks for the useful tuts. May i ask you something? Whats the easiest way to copy a comp without linking the properties of the main comp. So i can change, lets say text of both comps individually?

I apologize for the late response. There is a plugin that can do that for you. You can find it here: aescripts.com/true-comp-duplicator/.

Nice pro tips! have you any idea how i can make that any keyframe be automatically as a hold key? when i animate a character, first i create the key draws, and the automatic interpolation is disturbing. and have to change it manually every time is a waste of time
@ukramedia8 жыл бұрын
Tanks, CondePable! I'm not sure if I know of a way right of the top of my head. I'd have to look into it.
@CondePablo8 жыл бұрын
Thanks! the most close is to create a first hold key, the rest would be on hold. but is not the most comfortable way. is there any hotkey to move a keyframe (or selected keys) forward or backward in the timeline? (im animating a character in after for first time, and i cant bealive the complication that i have with the timeline and keyframes. soft like toom boom, tvpaint or flash has shorcuts to add a frame inbetween keys, after not). btw; did you know that if you move on the timeline with control (CMD) you can ear the sound by frame?

Thanks for this series! I see some black lines appear on top of your timeline, I had the same problem on my laptop. How did you fix it? Thanks!
@ukramedia8 жыл бұрын
Actually... I use a laptop as well and I haven't tried fixing it yet. Were you able to fix it?
@DIsraelP8 жыл бұрын
It was the Nvidia driver in my case, I had to revert to the driver that came with the system. I was very frustrating though and I still have to check wich newer version of the Nvidia driver doesn't have that problem.
@ukramedia8 жыл бұрын
I updated my Nvidia driver last night and it looks like it's fixed. That was annoying and I'm glad to see those lines gone.

Watched all 4 Parts of these videos, thanks! I have a question.. not sure if its possible.. You know how there are AE compositions that take hours to render.. after viewing the output you see a single spelling error, edit the section and render again for hours.. Is there a quicker way to just render that section with the error or something?

All these videos are so useful and easy to reference, thank you very much! I do have couple of questions .. - I use trick #21 often, but I invariably end up with keys that are BETWEEN frames, is there a way to make sure that doesn't happen? - When the project window is full, how do you extract a file from a folder, without any empty space to drag it to?... Thanks again, keep'em coming!

Hi Ukramedia ! *Sorry in advance for my no-native english language* I saw some of your vidoes, your channel is a great goldmine of amazing tools! May I ask you a resquest, I tried some weeks ago to bend a picture of a long palm tree by using his speed information. I used the pins fomr the puppet tool but I can't find the right fonction to apply on those. If you find some ways, it will be great too see it on your next video. Let a comment if you think it's conceivable.

Thanks a lot for the tips, they are amazing! For tip n°2 I had problems since I'm on an iMac with a Magic Keyboard (no num pad) and alt+] is not working for me (maybe it's just me). I realized that cmd+shift+d then delete does the same and it's pretty fast.

I have a problem I don't to find any solution for the #2 sequence layer exercices ! i cannot apply that square bracket option for reducing and extending the layers ! I've search as much as I could to enable something so it could work, but nothing so far ! So I'm asking you, cause you look to be computer wizz and/or have deep knowledge in computer in general ! Maybe it doesn't work because of french canadian settings, but I have an english keyboard, so it should work... No ? Anyway peace sir and again your tutorial are WOW ! Seb ;^) ♪

Do you have any tips on how to actually remember all this stuff?) the obvious answer would be to use those every day , but i've been into editing for quite a lot of years and thats my day job but the reality is that any kind of project never involves all the cool tricks every day, usually i'm keying for two weeks in a row, then tracking for weeks, then doing roto or smth else, to the point that i can do it with my eyes closed, but every now and then its a different thing in addition to just editing. So when it comes to doing something again after a month or two, my mind goes completely blank and it takes some time to recall the shortcuts and workarounds, and until i do i'm doing the stuff manually again like in the part when you moved the layers by 4 frames one by one, haha) i tried writing all your tips down, but it ended up in a lot of pages and i couldnt find the ones i needed at the moment anyway) just cant find the way to utilize the knowledge you are kindly sharing with us)
@ukramedia8 жыл бұрын
Apply them as you go. Before you start a project, think about the things you'll be doing and see what kind of shortcuts you can use to speed up your workflow. There is also something about teaching others that helps you to remember things better. That's one of the reasons I started this channel. Good luck! Thanks again for watching this tutorial!

Nice tips, I knew most things but some of the small things like the alt / shift / ctrl + +/- (scale / rotate by keyboard) makes the video total worth it (for me)! To remove unused solids, instead of selecting al the unused items and delete them, you can also use File => Dependencies => Remove Unused footage. (But it will remove all unused footage)
@ukramedia8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Michel! I knew about the remove unused footage. I just wanted to make a point on how to remove duplicated solids. Thanks again for watching and for your useful feedback!
