Some youtubers do that on purpose to earn more view hours,,,,,it gets that videos rating or "time spent on" rating higher. They will drag and talk unneeded stuff and show an entire project how they used it etc too drag the duration out.

Few additional pointers: 4: You can replace content by selecting the layer and holding Alt and just drag the new content on the composition window and the selected layer will be replaced - no Ctrl is needed. 5 and 13: I usually use a pre-created color collection (like from Kuler or customers visual guideline's color palette) and scale it down in a corner and make it a guide layer - no extra color windows/steps needed - just the color picker tool. 9: RedGiant's Universe plug-in offers a multicolored gradient effect which is free and far more user friendly then the layer styles. 14: While using the pen tool and when you hold Alt you can change the out-going bezier's direction without affecting the in-going path - this is also VERY helpful in rotoscoping. 17: Copy pasting content from one Adobe software to another works in almost every software - you can also copy paste a pre-cut clip/scene from Premiere to AE's timeline which means less time spent in rendering. 19: You don't have to drag'n'drop comps into Media Encoder - while having the comp selected go to top menu's Composition -> Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue (right on top of the Add to Render Queue) and it opens the Media Encoder if you don't have it open already.
