Really excellent demo and explanations--especially on making the trade-off from strumming in the "sweet spot" to strumming at a slightly lower spot so as to not have to move your hand and arm down a bunch when switching to finger-picking. Nice clarity!

Thank you for this! Your tip about keeping your wrist angled down to also help with finger picking helped me tremendously

You're very welcome! Glad you found this helpful. The example is from an original piece called My Island on my Waking Heartstrings album. I'll add it to my tutorial requests list for future consideration 😊

Hello! I have another question. I bought a shoulder strap once, but i cant confirm it well on the ukulele. Where did you buy yours? There is one end of the strap that I can see on the video, where is the other one attached? Thanks in advance!

Hi! Thanks for the questions! Here's the strap that I'm using in the video: amzn.to/2WM3r20. Check out this tutorial where I talk about using a strap...you'll see where the strap attaches to the peg at the base of body 😊 kzbin.info/www/bejne/joezc5SKg89lpJI

Sorry Lara, but there is one question left and I hope you won't lough about it: Do I always have to pick or strump with my fingerNAILS? I prefer picking with the tip of my fingers. It sounds warm but it sounds different from time to time.. Is it possible to get this warm sound by playing with fingernails? Ups, two questions....
@LaraMarkowitzMusic3 жыл бұрын
There are players who prefer to strum/pick with the tips of their fingers. I'm not quite sure how to answer your question about the warm sound 😉 When I experimented with my right hand fingernail length, I found a sweet spot that was great for strumming and picking. For picking, I find it easier to pick the strings more cleanly with nails rather than finger tips. I also prefer the sound picking with nails as I can better control the volume and the sound feels more muted when I pick with my finger tips. There are no rules here so do whatever feels best to you. If you want to compare, you can let your nails grow a bit and try it out, and then file them back if you don't like it. Thanks for the question(s)!

Generally right handed players strum/pick with their right hand and fret with their left hand 😉

Why does my left wrist hurt after playing for awhile?
@LaraMarkowitzMusic3 жыл бұрын
It could be the angle of your wrist and how you're playing chords. You may find my video on left hand tips helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXupqmahfcijf5Y
