THE most creative mind in metal. No one even comes close. JSM FOREVER!!!
@lastditch7277 ай бұрын
Its on par with many modern extreme metal drummers. To say one guy is "THE" guy is speculation at best. David diepold, sebastian lanser, kevin paradis, John longstreth to name a few that I see drumming at this level of creativity, speed, power and precision.
@DudelyDuWrong6 ай бұрын
These guys are also incredible drummers. I think one thing that separates him from these guys is that they are all hired guns to a degree and Jamie is not. ULCERATE cultivated their sound over years and Jamie's drumming is very foundational to that sound..arguably unlike those others guys. Maybe Origin could be compared even though it's John's worst band imo

Jamie is undoubtedly in a league of his own and has been for the better part throughout the time Ulcerate have been active and performing, I've witnessed well over 15 shows here in New Zealand since discovering them in 2002 it's given me a decent perspective into his approach to playing and writing tunes with his Signature Sound that is uniquely him and him alone not many if any in the modern game have that like George Kollias and Jamie possess in eachs respective bands, Alot of the other drummers as outstandingly good as they are, either sound generically alike for the most part or are playing other people's drum parts as a replacement drummers filling in vacated thrones and only playing for what their genres parameters need of them to play and write, which is totally fine but its kinda predictable and alot of it has been done before and gets rehashed lazily into writing music and songs that quickly become those irrelevant and disposable releases in the Metal music realm unfortunately

@@lastditch727all of those drummers are the top elite. I still think JSM is one notch above them
@lastditch7276 ай бұрын
@prototheist that was just a short list. They're so many more. From the guy in inferi, to Spencer of archspire. My man chason Westmorland could play ulcerate songs np. I just think you prefer that atmospheric death metal sound over all the other sounds. The list goes on and on. Hannes Grossman on necrophagist is top tier for me. But tons of players can play those songs so whatever lol.

I wish these videos would not be mixed by someone using sample replacement and gating levels. I know it makes their job much easier to mix and makes it sound "professional". But it cuts out notes that I can clearly see him play, and makes it sloppy sounding. When we all know he is nothing of the sort. and makes the organic nature of the live playthrough seem cheesey. We all know he is an absolute machine and can absolutely nail every note. So why not have the sound more natty? Plus if I hear this particular snare sample used one more fucking time I'm going to loose my mind. Rant aside, it's a great video and this channel does great things for great drummers.
@metaldrummersunited57167 ай бұрын
"Natty" maan, I think you watched Downbeat too much. As for the mix, I doubt there're sample replacements, Jamie mixed the audio himself.

And also, thanks for the kind words about the channel, appreciate it!

There are no samples on the snare and toms, and every note I played is heard and not gated out. Most of the sound is actually room mics too.
