I’m obsessed with their ship 😩🙏 I love how it’s a twisted but HEALTHY relationship- it’s not the classic yandere tragedy but more like a protective obsession. They want to keep each other happy at all costs, so they wouldn’t do that evil stuff that most Yandere stories will do. They’re just a little coocoo but they’re both into it.

Okay I love this so much so I'm going to analyze what's going on here. In the past, the popular kid was rejected by his crush. I believe this is why he is obsessed with the nerdy kid. He fears rejection so instead he's literally stalking him to feel a deeper connection without the risk of unrequited feelings. His friends, however, believe he has an "ulterior motive" behind his new crush. The nerdy kid looks similar to his old crush, so they think his feelings aren't actually genuine. His friends comments combined with his own insecurities cause him to rethink his obsession toward the nerdy kid (hence the thread and scissors). In the end, his obsession is too strong and he continues pining after the nerdy kid in an unhealthy manner. (I'm seriously invested in these two ❤) EDIT: Okay, so I need to make some changes to my analysis after the release of the “Lum no Love Song” animation. The black backgrounds in this short represents Ricci’s fears and his true self. In the first scenario, Sara, his girlfriend, has found out about his obsession with Suzuki and rejects him. In the second, he gets caught and the image he’s made for himself (represented by the mirror) is forgotten as his true self is given the spotlight. In other words, his friends have suspicions, but neither his friends nor his girlfriend know about his obsession yet, and he’s afraid of anyone finding out. Hence why he tries to “cut it out” before his worst fears become reality. As for the ending where he's holding Suzuki’s undergarments, the background is black because he’s showing his true self.

I like they are obsessive yes but not toxic they still are human and understand there are some lines you don’t cross. Maybe they do stall things for each other that hold meaning to them. They still give each other space to breathe by not trying to steal attention form friends and that’s good instead of being manipulative and isolating.
