Very Interesting! These were all my top picks. Plan on deciding on one of them. Noticed that "The Hook Up" showed that Vantrue N4 Pro had the best license plate for day and night (against the Viofo A139 Pro and a few others). In this video looks like it's the Viofo A139 Pro with the better reading on license plates. The quality in their video also looked a lot higher for the Vantrue N4 Pro than what you're seeing. Wonder why there's the disparity there.

@@SafeDriveSolutions Watched it again, wasn't really able to see, but guessing the way they mounted it up had something to do with it is what you're saying? Regardless, both seem great. I like that the Viofo actually can record impacts on parking as well. Seems universally agreed upon that the Vantrue takes way too long to record on impact. The 70mai A810 seems like a great budget option though with only a 2 second delay. Too bad it can't pre-record like Viofo though or has bad/non-existent motion detection. Really was set up on the U3000 initially, but it's disappointing about the night vision quality. Although can't decide if the amazing parking capabilities is worth the night vision trade off.

I purchased the 70 mai like three weeks ago, yes price was a part of it, but im kind of glad with it, front video is great, files are very very easy organized, yes the rear camera is not so great but I think its ok'ish to have some recording in case of an emergency... one think I saw many people have problems with the N4 is the mounting and the mounting glue, which gives up very often and even Right after installation.... so it doesn't matter how expensive the camera is and how great the video quality is, if its falling down- then you have no recording at all... so far in the California heat, the 70 mai is holding its mounting and mounting glue without fail for me. which I consider a plus. again, thank you for this fantastic video!

This is a real treat to watch. I've been looking at a dash cam for awhile and wanted to see some high end contenders against each other. I've always been a Thinkware fan, as I had a previous f1800 Pro 2Ch setup for over 5 years. Was looking at getting the new 4k 2ch U3000 Thinkware, and was very disappointment at the quality compared to others. Almost every single example has so much compression noise that the quality doesn't actually seem like 4k. Overall I still think the U3000 still has the most features and parking options, especially with their new radar system Thinkware has. But, I just don't know if its worth the 220+ price tag over the A139. I wonder if the OBD connection is better, very easy for me to install for sure, as I'm not very good at hard-wiring, and usually have them professionally installed, but can be a big cost too in "labor". I've always loved the fact that I can have my dash cam silently recording while my truck is in the shop and make sure that its actually being worked on, or someone isn't taking a joy ride. But with an OBD cable, that can easily be unplugged, since depending on the dealer or work being done, they need the OBD port to diagnose problems, which might tip them off that a camera was hooked up. Either way, I'm a bit conflicted now as I very much like the quality of the A139 Pro. I am curious though, idk if I missed it or not, but did you install the CPL filter that came with the U3000? I was under the impression it was supposed to clear up a lot of the bad contrast glare at night. Or maby I'm wrong? Just wondering as @ 26:17 you can just see at how not helpful this camera would've been in a situation where you may have needed to see that plate, you can't even make out one single letter compared to others.

First of all, I would like to thank you for the detailed and informative videos. In the end I decided on the Vantrue N4 pro and against the Vaio A139pro, as some reports on the A139pro put me off. (Dashcam doesn't record sporadically or breaks after 1-2 years). Without the CPL filter, the Vaio is superior to the Vantrue. With CPL filter the Vantrue is on par (front camera). The backlight like in the tunnel (25:10) is negated and the license plates can be seen more clearly with the CPL filter. What shocked me a bit is how much more power the Vantrue draws compared to the other dash cams. I'll be hooking up my Vantrue to a battery pack soon. I find the Thinkware to be poor in terms of price without HDR. The radar/good parking mode cannot compensate for this. In the motion detection parking mode test I don't see the Thinkware in front either (perhaps it looks different in the original recordings). To be honest, I think the Vaio and Vantrue are better here. On the one hand, the backlight makes recording more difficult and on the other hand, you can always adjust the videos afterwards (contrast and brightness). The Thinkware is not as sharp and has more motion blur. In any case, I'm happy with the purchase of the Vantrue and I'm looking forward to new videos.

Vantrue is way too big in my opinion. I also do not like the interior camera being built into the unit as it limits mounting options for interior and front camera. The current draw is excessively high. The video quality is good for front camera.

@@SafeDriveSolutions The good thing is that dashcams are getting better and better and everyone can choose a suitable dashcam for their needs. I use the vantrue in a Supra mk5 which has not the biggest windscreen behind / under the mirror and its ok. I dont have a comparison with other dashcams.

There is another hardwire kit for the VanTrue than the one you showed. It allows for different voltages and also includes a timer. Thanks for your videos. I enjoy them. I did get the VanTrue as parking modes donet matter much for a garaged vehicle. It was also a decision based on price and I wanted the 3rd channel available if needed.

Interesting thing about the Vantrue - they actually have several hardwire & OBDII kits that are compatible with it. I got the "Vantrue 3-lead Acc Hardwire Kit" (VP01), which has 5 DIP switches for selecting 4 different voltage cutoffs and 6 timer settings. I will also note that the power draw tests would be quite a bit more digestible if they were all shown on screen at once so we can easily compare between the various cameras and modes.

@@japrtorresjaprtorres Compare to $350CAD Vantrue or $400CAD Viofo, $200CAD 70mai is best bang for the buck dashcam. For me, the major tradeoff is lack of 5Ghz Wifi and non starvis sensor rear camera. The front camera recording quality is really good. The rear is ok at daytime but really bad at night. However, my rear window is tinted, and I think a good rear camera still might not works well. Wifi feel slow but I can either remove the microsd card or remove the camera completely by simply unplug 2 cables and slide it out. So I think it still usable.

It is not 30 fps and i also found out after my video that even rear camera is 25FPS. So both front and rear are 25 fps. The AI motion detection never worked for me and it is to most current firmware.

UPDATE :: So I guess 70 Mai did a firmware update where they are inserting frames in but they are not genuine 30 frames per second. Itis still a 25FPS dash camera.

Viofo does not have an impact only setting. However if there is an impact in auto event detection, time lapse, or low bitrate recording it saves in locked files.

very good video however you didn't show the rear videos of the thinkware? and also talk about the type of rear camera support at thinkware I had a problem I own a pickup with a vertical rear window and if you install the rear camera you have to adjust the angle the problem is that the radar cell found itself at the bottom so I had to make a removable support and thinkware does not offer it otherwise your rear radar does not work

The rear thinkware camera was left in my broke down vehicle. When I looked at video footage i had it was of the wrong angle. Basically had it pointing straight down 🥲. Totally my fault. The radar sensor I believe you are correct. I really want to confirm for myself. The vehicle dying on me really messed things up for me. Thank you for bringing it up. I will be talking directly with Thinkware in November at SEMA regarding this exact challenge as Korea will be there. My contact here is on an extended vacation.

CPL filter does not come in the box. We also test all dash cams without CPL filter. 10s pre recording you are asking about buffered recording. Yes all 3 have it, i did not test the 70mai for it as the motion detection would not work. Remote controller is an add on. Voice commands were not mentioned because i was not even saying the commands and weird stuff would happen occasionally like it would take a picture for no reason. Thanks for pointing it out. We are always trying to refine our testing process

Hi, the viofo was that the 2 channel version or the 3 channel version? I have seen that you can adjust bitrate. 1CH/2CH/3CH 60Mpbs/44/26. Comparing this to the N4PRO, which is 3CH, isn't fully fair then IF you want a 3CH. Is it possible to turn off the inwards pointed camera of the N4PRO and perhaps see an increase in quality?

The N4 Pro had interior camera turned off during recording. You can choose that in settings. Viofo was running in 2 channel version.

When you were doing the testing of walking up to the back of the vehicle when it was dark out too bad there wasn’t a motion detection light that turns on/off automatically when you were there from inside the car to show your face as you were really dark hard to see it

The Thinkware U3000 in my opinion is best for motion detection as it has the radar parking mode. Which will last longer than other parking mode options available on the market. I use the Viofo A229 pro and the Vueroid D21 4K in my car currently. The vueroid has a very low current impact detection while parked. also has some interesting parking mode features I have not really seen before. But i also have everything hooked up to a battery pack so it can record for long periods of time without an impact to my car battery

Running all these tests in your vehicle with all these cams, do you find that all the manufactures hardwire kits have the same pin outs on the usb-c end? Like is that a universal wiring scheme? Or do some manufactures have a proprietary pin out?

Funny that you ask that. I was doing some testing and found that Vantrue hardwire cable would put the 70 mai dash cam in and out of parking mode with no challenges. However the Viofo hardwire cable would not put either of those dash cams into parking mode. I was reading on one pf the forums that there is a different pinouts for USB-c. I have used a Viofo HK-4 hardwire cable mon Red Tiger with no challenges and it would work for parking mode as well.

Thats not how it works. If you are using impact only while parked it will only get 2 seconds after impact. If you want before impact you need to use motion detection or time lapse.

I have an a229 pro and im replacing it with the 70 mai just for the 4g kit, also the 4g hardwire kit has about 4 voltage settings in the app, also iv seen videos that the rear camera is now much better, i know the a229 pro is technically better but i just want the 4g , being able to live view at any time from the app.

I would for sure get Viofo A119 Mini 2 over 70 Mai. you get 60fps at 2K resolution. Ability to add a polarized lens.

No dash cameras i know have an integrated battery. Go Pros are a very bad solution and will overheat. Wiring to your vehicle electrical will not void your warranty. We do this everyday…

I can't believe someone hasn't made a descrete camera yet. You could make a camera the size of 4 stacked half dollars that would be top notch and then run a tiny data ribbon cable to the brains which could easily go to the bottom half of your dash console or your glove compartment. Instead they make these big bulky all in one things.

It has collision detection but it takes 13 seconds to wake up and start recording. If you use quick wake up it takes 6 seconds to start recording. It is not buffered in anyway.

@@willg6997 so if i understand the question a little more clearly now. If there is an impact in motion detection, low bitrate or time lapse modes it does lock the video and it will have buffering. However we like to call Vantrue battery killers. Because they have no timers to limit parking mode, there lack of other voltage cutoffs when used while parked as well.

Don't know why dash cam makers are not making dash cam's with in-built batteries for parking mode or simpler way to connect a battery like a power bank for phones, only need a usb cable, instead of hot wiring it.

Reviewers should really READ about the Dash Cams they are reviewing. The Vantrue N4 Pro - comes WITH 3 cameras. (Front, Cabin, & Rear). However - it will only record in 4k - if you throw away the other two 'included' cameras and are only using the FRONT camera. If you set it up as most people; plugging in all 3 included cameras - the lettering '4k' is just that. False lettering. The 70 Mai A810 will not record 4K in 60FPS at all. Only 25FPS or slower. Difficult to see that in the bad owners manual - but is answered in the FAQ. ***** My bad. I misread the owners manual. And thought it stated it would only record in 4K if only the front camera was used. Contacted VanTrue and asked about the discrepancy in their advertising and manual etc. They pointed out my error. 2160P is 1/2 or part of the 4K equation. Per VanTrue - it does indeed record in 4K with all cameras used - unless you set it - to not do so...

@@daves7775 The N4 Pro front camera uses a STARVIS 2 IMX678 image sensor. I honestly do not sell Vantrue at all. But the specs are all legit for front camera. If you use a MAC and hit (COMMAND + I) it will give you technical specs of video file. Front 3840 x 2160, MPEG-4 AAC, HEVC, 725 MB. Also page 36 and 37 in my manual is in Spanish and has nothing to do with tech specs in my N4Pro manual. When I look at Vantrue N4 Manual which is non pro Page 30 it shows it is not a 4K camera. That camera is not a 4K Camera. Feel free to send a link to this manual you are referring to. The 70 Mai A810 has done some deceptive stuff by adding in dropped frames and doing an update since my review where if you do the (COMMAND + I) it now shows 30FPS at 4K which it is not. it only does 25FPS. Also we are a business that supplies and installs dash cameras everyday. We test all brands we sell and carry. We started testing competitors products to the products we support. Trust me if I could have told people Vantrue N4 Pro was not 4K I would have loved to. Send me the evidence. For instance this video below. I contacted VanTrue to ask them about the resolution - since their website states 4K etc. They pointed out that the resolutions stated with the Cabin and Rear Camera used - are abbreviated. And 2160P is 1/2 of the equation for 4K (3840 x 2160); and the front camera does record in 4K in all situations - unless set to not do so.
