How is revision going in the last few days before the exams? Did I miss any tips! Let me know!

@@zhelyo_physics It's been going good! Though seeing the grade boundaries of previous years is pretty disheartening (It's like 80% for an A*!) so I'm doing all I can to bump my high B to at least a high A, which should be possible since I got all the maths down. 3 mark written questions though...

Thank you for this Is it possible if you can go through all the practical experiments that it mentioned in the advanced information for OCR. Paper 1 It would be really helpful! 😊
@zhelyo_physics2 жыл бұрын
I have gone through all the standard experiments in my revision playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLSygKZqfTjPC3hJ7nRSnnXTw3tI_o67dR Also, just to clarify, the advanced information does not mention specific practicals but rather practical skills, which could mean a number of different questions.

Thank you so much for this. Also, are strange quarks produced by the strong interaction? I used to think that they decayed and were produced via the weak interaction. Also, do all quarks interact and come into existence via the string force then? Thank you
@zhelyo_physics2 жыл бұрын
1) Strange Quarks can be produced by the strong interaction with gluons producing strange antistrange pairs. You generally need higher energy as they are more massive than up/down quarks. 2) In a way yes, and no, also remember, the weak interaction can change a quark flavour turning an up to a down or vice verse.

I have a question do you think we should learn all the practical's for the exam of by heart? Or is there no point
@zhelyo_physics2 жыл бұрын
I would say revise them with understanding, not learning them by heart. They more often than not do a variation, or a completely new experiment using knowledge of the spec. Good luck!

If on a six mark question we write more than 6 bullet points to cover more information, would be be penalised for it?
@zhelyo_physics2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely not. The 6 markers are marked in bands rather than individual points.

This was recommended to me on the day of my exam, after my exam. Cheers KZbin. I think it went fairly well anyway, I only need an A in physics and I’m pretty sure what I did was worthy of an A* anyway.

What’s the difference in answers between describe and explain, I understand show normally consists use of equations but didn’t realise the other two were not interchangeable?
@zhelyo_physics2 жыл бұрын
So example: describe what a graph looks like - it is a straight line through the origin, explain: The graph is a straight line because current is directly proportional to the p.d. Hope this makes sense - describe is - tell me how something looks like, explain - tell me why is it the way it is. I might do a full video on that!

is it only the oscillation equations that radian mode is required for example the circular motion equations
@zhelyo_physics2 жыл бұрын
yep! In circular motion the equations normally work in degrees unless the question clearly states the unit as radians. Another one to watch out for is d=1/p in astrophysics, d needs to be in parsecs and p in arcseconds

whats the difference between describe, explain and show questions
@zhelyo_physics2 жыл бұрын
I might have to do a separate video for that! : ) Some examples: Describe: The graph shows that velocity is constant for 5 seconds, then there is a constant positive acceleration. Explain: The net force is 0 for the first 5 seconds, so the velocity remains constant. Then there is a net force acting so acceleration occurs. Show: this is a mathematical proof and the marks go for writing out a mathematical expression, e.g. show that F=ma can be written as F=delta p/delta t for constant mass and the marks will go for that. I might do a separate video for that!
@oskarwitha_k82582 жыл бұрын
@@zhelyo_physics definitely a separate video needed for it, thank you so much for the explanation!
