Badge idea for pass it on or battle: allergy awareness. So make recipes that generally have some or many elements that include allergens (say peanut butter, almond flour, etc) and ways to navigate those elements while still being able to enjoy all the flavors of the dish.

Yes, lots of the quick recipes that are trendy at the moment seem to be various combinations of peanut butter and chocolate! I think they should get points for how many allergens they can avoid. Growing up, our family had to make everything dairy, wheat, gluten and sugar free in the days before free from products were available in the supermarkets, so something like this would have been super helpful.

Fun thing about bay leaves, at least in old Swedish cookbooks: it seems that no matter what you were making, or how many portions, you always should add 1 (one) bay leaf. Almost like it was some magical thinking involved there, "We can't go wrong as long as we add a bay leaf!"

thing is they do stuff, just not very noticeable, the general rule of thumb is that you might not notice it doing anything but you will notice when it's not there. it's a very subtle taste and a lot of people have old leaves because while they do keep for a long time you do need to store em properly for it to be the case

Or grow them in the garden, which we do here in Somerset, UK ..but beware, once the roots are established, the trees grow incredibly quickly: they need a hard trim back at least once or twice a year: we are always trying to give the fresh leaves away. If you haven't got a garden, they will also thrive in large pots.

Honestly, Mike's was absolutely a product of genius. I always struggle with the question of what to do with my leftover leftovers, and usually end up simply throwing them away after they've been in the fridge for too long. Giving them a massive rework was really really smart, and Mike should be commended for that recipe. Awesome stuff!!!

Mike's recipe sounded terrifying at first, but I felt the same about pastilla (a savory dish with a thick layer of sugar, honey and cinnamon on top) a few years ago, and it turned out to be one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted, so I would be curious to try his sweet buns. Ahem, phrasing.

Before the judging, Mike’s was the one that I thought looked the most appetizing, Barry’s was the one that I thought would taste the best even though I’m from US and never had “bread sauce”, all that stuff and wrapped in bacon and deep fried was surely going to be good and Jaime’s was the one that I wanted to try the most. But the whiskey gravy sounded awful.

If you've ever watched someone make a historical British sauce that looks a bit lumpy and weird, bread sauce is basically one of those that has somehow managed to survive the ages. It's traditionally milk, butter, and cream boiled with breadcrumbs and flavoured with onion, cloves, peppercorns and lots of herbs like thyme and sage. Barry's version looks much nicer.

The curry I could say fine cause leftovers are the theme but he also didn't make the dough so really all he did for the recipe is make the shape and do the frosting. Jamie might have made a horrible sauce but he made everything and Barry especially made everything on the plate and made in Bens own words the most Christmas tasting thing. To me Barry should have won due to Jamie making the sauce and Mike not making the two main parts of his dish.

Honestly Jaime is on the right track with the Yorkshire pudding burrito. One of my favourite foods I had while on holiday in the UK I found in York. It was literally a Yorkshire pudding wrap filled with all the roasty goodness. It was incredible

Just based on appearance, Barry's looked like the one I would most want to try. In fact, it seemed to be the most fitting for a xmas mash up battle. The other two could be done at any time of the year.

Sorted should do a annual 'what works' cook book. A list of foods they've made that would work, people would enjoy eating.

Actually quite happy to see the gravy Jamie made turnout bad. It's so rare for dishes to come out bad, and it reaffirms that they are normals.

Between Sorted Food and Korean Englismen the pandemic was a lot easier to bare and have learned a lot. Happy Xmas to the Sorted Team from Minnesota U.S.

Thank you all for the humor and just sharing all the "oops", it makes kitchen time so fun! Here in Ortawa, Canada, we (I mean ...me) don't cook a lot of Yorkshire pudding BUT that will be our New Year's dinner minus the gravy 😉😆. Barry's recipe will be enjoyed later in January. Rest up, stay safe and Happy Christmas!🎅🎁. *suggestion* try usual organ meats in a conventional way (tongue, tripe, chitlins etc) like in a casserole, BBQ or appetizers.

Okay but I'm 100% with Mike on the Curry. Last thanksgiving I had the same problem because first it was roasted turkey, then that turned to turkey curry, but there was still curry left while trying to use up the rest of the bird. Definitely going to give a go at that roll next leftover opportunity!

As a non-Brit, the term 'Bread Sauce Fingers' has done something to me. I'm not sure what yet, but it definitely has done something.

I don't know if there's ever been a dish made on this channel that I've wanted to try more than those turkey curry rolls. What a fun creation and they looked really delicious with the toppings. It did take me a while to figure out that the frosting was inspired by a raita and not a "writer". I was waiting for Mike to tell us which writer inspired the recipe.

This is part of why I appreciate how most Sorted Food videos have really good captions added to them (as I would've been confused as well if I didn't have them turned on).

I thought he said "writer" too,but then I'm cracking up anyway! Thought Mike's curry rolls were the best of the bunch, they did look delicious. Merry Christmas to everyone at Sorted, look forward to watching you again next year. 😀
