I think it would be a good idea to have Chef Skills challenges in the future where the badge up for grab isn't mentioned. The normals, if we can still call them that, are getting very good. I think by not telling them as the challenge being what's up for grabs they might having to call upon their entire repertoire of skills acquired over the years and really showcase what they've learnt. Maybe it's not the sollution for every badge and challenge, but certainly some blind testing wouldn't go amiss.

This is a prime example of how much the normals have come, couple of years ago if they had this challenge. They probably be panicking like crazy, taking mins to think, wasting alot of food etc. But you can see they immediately when to planning and fast, they already knew in they minds how some dishes can be prep and finished later or adding on further at the end. They knew almost all of how to cook the dishes as well as really helping each other out on the ingredients. It like watching a unit work together, everyone knows their job and covering each other backs. Now there are definitely room for improvements, however this was quite solid. Good on you boys

As someone with A LOT of food allergies, I often have to ask the restaurant/chef to make modifications to meals. Some places simply leave things out which can make food bland (but safe). However, occasionally chefs make modifications that are delicious and don’t leave me feeling like I’m missing out. I think it takes a lot of creativity and understanding of flavor combinations to make modifications on the fly. Another chef skill!
@irdairda5142 жыл бұрын
I have a few allergies& intolerances, I always ring ahead before going to a restaurant, just don't like dropping it on someone. I did have one restaurant we used to go to where the chef's son had allergies so they were really helpful to the point I no longer needed to ring ahead. Unfortunately they are now closed. I have also had a few bad experiences at restaurant, although it's been a while, there's more awareness out there now.

@@allibaker Coming from kitchen manager, please, please please keep on ringing ahead with your allergies, it is especially helpful when you do, certainly extra helpful if you made a reservation with it. @i-hate-handle-names2 жыл бұрын
As someone with food allergies I just don't order items that contain things I am allergic to. The only reason I mention it at all is in the hope they'll be a little extra cautious about cross contamination. It's never occurred to me that I could ask the kitchen staff to reinvent the menu to accommodate my conditions.
@allibaker2 жыл бұрын
@@i-hate-handle-names reinvent the menu? Seriously? Pretty sure I stated that I just request things be left off. If the kitchen staff, the professionals, offers more creative modifications than I greatly appreciate it. I didn’t say I demand it, request it, or expect it in any way. I was saying how nice it is when a chef goes above and beyond in creative ways that I wouldn’t have thought of. And completely their choice as I would never ask them to do it. I carry a supply of medications and epipens in case of cross contamination. I try to order cautiously to avoid possible allergens, because it’s my responsibility to do so. Sheesh! I have been watching Sorted food for 10 years now (I can't remember but it's been a while). Seeing everyone grow has been such a treated! Seeing their talents grow, getting married and starting a family, and moving on to new stages of their life has been amazing! Thanking for showing us this and being part of my life half way across the world! ❤️

By FAR the best chef skills episode, full of Ebbers abuse as well as an excellent display of skills by the lads

I would love the bois to take on a teaching challenge - just like in a professional kitchen, they each need to teach a less skilled cook. At the end, the "students" battle it out, and depending on the result, the boys might recieve a "teaching" badge!

I am genuinely impressed that they met the challenge, where still funny/fun to watch, and they didn't completely turn on each other. Shout out to Mike who got his job done and was a total nag about "Anyone need help" that's good quality teamwork. You don't want to be standing around while your team may well be flailing about. Genuinely one of the most impressive of the chef skills.

I really loved this episode, the guys were nice to each other, really helping out in every stage, Ben was delicately sarcastic and stinging. Really nice! And the plating was good even if it was a bit simplistic.

As someone with Coeliac Disease and other dietary requiremnts, my heart absolutely leapt to hear Ben talk about cross contamination of allergens at the end there, thank you. And the video really highlights how easy it is in the bustle of a kitchen to cross contaminate someone and make them seriously ill, which is why chefs who understand our needs are rare safe havens for us. Very impressed, such an informative as well as entertaining video.

Okay everyone - who do you think is going to be the first to lose their teamwork badge during a Pass it On? ...my money's on Barry. He's got the history.

This was so satisfying to watch! We have so much of the normals trying to trip each other up during food battles and stuff, it's very nice to see them work together and lift each other up (against management). More of this please.

I love this format so much! Really want to see the normals take on a challenge together. Team games are always more fun than single player.

That was very satisfying to watch them work and work well without shenanigans. That being said that would have been so interesting to see if there were only 2 team work badges to give out and they knew that going in to it. Having the try and out teamwork eachother which in turn in not team work and seeing how that would have messed everything up

Not gonna lie, I was expecting actual guests to be the “customers.” Like maybe a surprise James appearance.

I was impressed with the final minutes. I have seen teams crumble in the last second panic, but they really pulled together, shifting tasks as needed to get it all out together. Brilliantly done.

In the world of corporate team building days, this could be one of the more exciting and interesting ones :D

I think the team-work is so much better than the battles. Also the bed & breakfast, having a target recipient, is really engaging. Also like the staging, planning, etc.

Imagine: You have Rhett & Link in there with you for a challenge similar....I'd watch that! Link's panicking under pressure & Rhett's words of mouth... I would've ordered the Full English as I've never had black pudding before and I'd like to try it :)

Honestly this was genuinely so fun to watch! Love a collaborative challenge, and it was really rewarding to watch the guys play to their various strengths and figure out how to get a plate on the table!! I’d love to see more of these style of challenges as well

It's not really fair to call those guys normies any more :) They are at least advanced home chefs :)

Honestly this format needs to continue, that was one of the best videos ive seen with the three working together. Like others have said, you should do more of these with different cuisines and different times (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and throw in curveballs like the nut allergy. Was great to see jaime thinking on his feet and redoing the porridge brilliantly

Great seeing you guys in one shoot again! Great episode, fun challenge, good chemistry. This episode had it all. Would like to suggest a Chef's Skills Challenge: Saving a recipe. Love from the Netherlands.
