2.5 layer are useless, the inner coating will wear off way before the rest of the jacket breaks down. 3 layer is the only way to go.

Thanks for your input! Some folks don't want the weight of a full-on 3 layer shell, so pieces like the Ultra Jacket are a good alternative.
