I was looking at this dashcam. Great informative review. I have another Vantrue but my next one will be the X4S mainly because of the rear camera and Vantrue makes great products. To get to your question , it's a no brainer for anyone on the fence about getting a dashcam. It proved that I wasn't at fault when I was the victim of a hit and run. From united States

I have a vantrue x4s for a couple of years now with the San discs card and it has worked fine, I even had an accident and the camera showed it was the other person’s fault.I emailed video to there insurance of the other persons insurance and no problems. I wish vantrue had a better WiFi for this camera.

That's true, but I use the Dashcam for protection just in case if some accident happens, and also as a security at night. It can send footage if someone try to break in. Plus, it's very inexpensive.

For this dashcam I recommend using OBD hardware cable, so you don't need to mess with your fuse box. Just plug it in your OBD plug under the steering wheel kick panel and forget it. Get it here - amzn.to/431DThC

Thanks for the good information you make I drive a small Mercedes-Benz B 200 d 4MATIC W247 AMG Line. I have a question about the power connection in the roof lighting. For the camera I need 5 volts and an interruption of the voltage when the engine is turned off. For the 5 volts I have small voltage converter 12 volts to 5 volts. Can you show me where and how you connected this to the overhead light? Greetings from Germany (your pronunciation was Perfect)

No, you don't need an interruption of power when the engine is turned off. On contrary, you need a constant power. Only 2 wires - 1 for constant power and 1 for ground. Use a voltmeter to find the wire. Make sure it doesn't switch off when you open the door. I understand that if G-Sensor doesn't see any movement for about 5 minutes, it will automatically switch to the Parking Mode. Alternatively, VanTrue also offers OBD II cable for easy connection. P.S. Still working on my German.😁!

Yes, you can install the rear camera anywhere you want. Although, I'd rather record what's behind the car, than what's inside. I plan to review a 3-channel dashcam, front, rear and inside, so stay tuned!

Quick question, I bought this camera already, but I would like to if there is a different mount besides the suction cup one and the one with the 3M tape? I asking because I seen some brackets that can connect to the rear view mirror bracket without using the 3M tape or suction cup. Thanks

If you attach it to glass, it's either a double-tape or a suction cup. When using a double-tape, you can insert an electrostatic sticker in between glass and the tape. But if you attach to something other than glass than you can use all kind of housings and screws.

How long it can run on one single charge? My GLB doesn't like hardwiring. I had to put the battery cut-off voltage on max in the camera settings to avoid the onboard computer getting crazy. 3 times in MB service didn't help to find out - what was wrong with my car, 🥵 until I figured, that the camera drains my car battery.

It needs to be hard wired, but it doesn't work when the car is off. It works for a few minutes, only if the G-sensor wakes up due to someone trying to break in, so it will send you the footage. Otherwise it's always off.

Any ideas why my camera (that’s hardwired) continues to freeze and shut off ONLY when the rear camera USB is plugged in. The only way it works (about 10% of the time) is having it already running, and then plug the rear camera in, and even then there’s a good chance it freezes and shuts off. Also, I have a 256GB VanTrue memory card and it only records for 5 minutes at a time and re-loops. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

If your dashcam is hardwired, make sure to have a good source of power as well as a solid ground connection, so you have an adequate amount of current coming. Also, try to replace with some other rear camera (instead of existing one), and if the problem disappears, than maybe there is a short circuit or something wrong with the rear camera itself. Otherwise, try to contact the manufacturer and repair/replace under the warranty.

Maybe I am expecting more than should be. I bout the X4S a week ago. In general, Average recording. Crappy night and detail image (Numbers in license plate not readable at any distance). I'll be sending my unit back personally.

You can adjust the exposure to fine tune the image. Contact VanTrue tech support for guidance.

This camera currently has an issue with running the parking mode while the rear camera is attached causing it to boot loop over and over. They are aware of this but have not found a solution. I am not sure how you sell a product without testing it but I was extremely disappointed that parking mode is virtually useless with a rear camera installed.

I did test the Parking Mode, and it worked fine. Make sure to adjust the sensitivity of the G-Sensor and turn off all other triggers, because it looks like something is triggering your Dashcam to react. I don't sell the product, I just demo and review it.

@@MBZMaster It is a known issue and Vantrue has told me they can re-create the issue and have no resolution as of yet. When parking mode is triggered by the g-sensor from an event (as it should) the camera wakes but boot loops. It does not have this issue with rear camera not installed. Just something new buyers should be aware of.

As I said, I don't have any problems using the Parking Mode in my Dashcam, so I'm not aware of any issues you described. VanTrue has warranty and also a return policy, so make sure to use it. By the way, how does the rear camera make your dashcam to boot loop? It's not an input, it's an output. But anyway, if you experience any problems, make sure to return or exchange.

I bought that X4S duo and returned it. When its hardwired and you set the parking mode to constant recording (low bitrate) it shuts down when its hot outside, and will remain off until you manually turn on the camera again (instead of resuming operation when temperature drops). Not worth the money.

If you bought a defective unit, they have a return/money back guarantee. My unit works without any problems so far.

@@MBZMaster actually Amazon sent a replacement, and did exactly the same thing. Your camera is hardwired using the optional venture hardware kit? it is set to parking mode-low bitrate? you live in an area where normal days temperature reach 100F?
