Ultimate Ears UE Megaboom Doesnt Charge Charger Port Replacement

I have been wrestling with a non charging UE Megaboom for 2 years. Finally fixed it!! The charger they give you is too short and doesn't make proper contact. Trim back the surround a couple of millimetres with a scalpel. Fixed!!!!

You don't need to remove the spine, or the fabric to get the charging port circuit board out of the speaker. You can pry it up carefully without all of that.

Just took mine apart and took the top piece off and the contacts were slightly corroded...cleaned them an put it back together and it works like new again...no money spent!!

How did you clean the contacts?

When you pull the cap off…the port is right there on top. I lifted it up and scraped the contacts and put it back together and it’s been charging fine ever since. I will say this though…it may be a bit unconventional but a trick I used before cleaning the contacts was to squeeze the top of the UE boom on the charging end very tightly while charging…used a Irwin quick grip clamp to do it. Weird I know but hey…it worked!

So I just did a battery replacement on mine and it still was not working, turns out the pins that the battery connect too had popped off the pcb, all I had to do was push the pins back down to the ocb and problem was fixed.

The aux input on my mega boom stopped taking a signal which was bad because I use it a lot... If I do this replacement do you think it will work again?

Update if anyone's interested... I pulled it apart but couldn't see anything... put it back together and bingo!! She's working again!!

My AUX port is crackly on a brand new megaboom. It jiggles perfect to one side, then completely muted when you let go. I have tested 4 cables which are known to be working.

In this case you would most likely have to replace the charger port PCB.

All you have too do is replace charging wire.... With a quality wire.. Might have to trim rubber end that goes in dock... Fixed mine after a year on shelv

Hold volume down and power button at the same time until the speaker resets. If it hasn’t yet given up completely you will hear a noise indicating the speaker has reset in 6-8 seconds. If it is dead and won’t even turn on, then first plug in the charger and watch for the flashing light - then hold vol down and power until the charging light stops flashing. Give it 30 seconds or so, unplug and then reconnect the charger, and the light should be flashing again. Give it at least a few minutes to charge, then try turning it on again and it should work. I would then shut it off or at least not play any loud music until the battery reaches 100%. You will need to re-pair Bluetooth when you do this reset. Then leave the cord plugged in while using the speaker in the future. I experience the problem you describe where the speaker will just drain all the way out once the battery level drops too low, and I read online that it may need a replacement battery if this problem happens often. I’m trying to find the correct replacement battery at the moment.

The device must remain in a certain degree of sound or if it exceeded the device remains inflamed, but the sound does not exist as much as the device UE boom 2 does not remain in its normal state

I wouldn't really say any of those speakers are 100% waterproof. I have seen some speakers with corrosion before. But yes it is still slightly water resistant.

Please help,when i plug my charger in to the megaboom the light is blinking as normal but he cant charging when i tourn it on it always says 20% charge or sometimes 40% and when the charging cable is out the charging light is still blinking when it is on!!!

@@Joesge In ue megaboom app it seems to be charging and also always are 20% can't get past!When i turn on the speaker and listen for some music on low volumes i can but when i goes on higher volumes it automatically shuts down!

If the firmware reset does not fix the issue then there is most likely a hardware issue with either the battery or Bluetooth board.

To simplify. If your charger port isn’t showing a light when plugged in then you have a broken port. If there is a light showing when plugged in but no power then you have a bad battery. Joe

If the charge port is the issue on your speaker, the charging light will not turn on when you plug it in to charge.
