As a Korean and former Seoul resident, I gotta say the Secret Garden 비원 of Changdeokgung is THE best. You need to book a tour, but the guides are pleasant and you still have freedom to walk about at each stop of the tour. It may not be the biggest, but it is the most beautiful. You can also avoid the, at times disrespectful, tourists which swarm Gyeongbokgung. My only advice is to bring some comfy shoes and clothes because it can be quite the walk in the summer. Obviously it's best during spring or fall tho :p

When I go to Seoul this atumn, I want to visit all of the palaces in one day! I really can't decide which palace is the nicest/most beautiful ㅠㅠ
@HiKorea74 жыл бұрын
It won't be easy to tour all five palaces a day. If you see Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changgyeonggung and Changdeokgung Palace, I think you can feel the beauty of the palaces of Seoul.

Silla palace and buddhist temple in Kyongju city is so appealing..

THANK YOU!!! I hope I could visit them all after this pass, can you tell us about Unhyeonggung Palace as well? Is it a royal palace as well? Why not so many people talk about it? Thank you
@HiKorea74 жыл бұрын
Unhyeongung Palace is more like a royal residence than an palace and I believe that's why not many people talk about it. How did you know about it by the way? Even many Koreans don't know about it!

You don't need subway or bus! You can walking, good exercising!
@HiKorea73 жыл бұрын
If you stay near the palaces, of course you can reach there by walk. However, Seoul is a very big city. The distance from end to end is over 20 km that is not usual "walking distance". If you were talking about moving from a palace to another palace, sure it's walking distance!

@@HiKorea7 When I go to Seoul in autumn 2022 I'd like to visit all five palaces, from the Great South Gate and walking clockwise in a circle starting at Deoksugung and finishing at Changgyeonggung. I'd also like to visit Jongmyo Shrine, Jogyesa Temple, and Bukchon Neighbourhood. Seoul is one of my favourite cities, last time I was there in 1987. How about 사직단, Altar of Agriculture?

There all shabby places because of the japs and the cultural heritage administrations refusal to restore all the palaces even though they could do it in a year proabbaly if they wanted to
@camulodunon6 күн бұрын
To do something like that in a year they'd have to use modern methods, which wouldn't be cool. To fully restore these buildings using traditional techniques takes time, especially when there aren't many people with skills in traditional building methods.
