One thing I didn't mention, buy ORANGE or RED microspikes, black ones get lost too easily. Orange is easier to find.

Here in the north eastern US the microspikes with the spinning spikes (yaktrax diamond grip) and the katoola knock-offs work great. Most of the time I use the yaktrax because they don't get clogged with snow. However if serious ice is expected or I'm hiking an actual mountain then I use my hillsound trail crampons, which despite the name are microspikes just like the uni brand spikes you have.

I think unigear is some rebrand company that sells in canada but there are a bunch in the states too, I linked one up that is exactly the same.

This video came just in time. Looking to do a hike next year (Three Fingers Lookout) with microspikes being the highly recommended gear item for the hike so this is some knowledge that I can use in purchasing them for that hike.

they don't really have sizes, check them some may make a small / medium or medium large but in general there is just 1 size that fits most male foot sizes

Do i need to sharpen the “micro spikes” like crampons?

naa I've never sharpened mine. maybe after... 10 years? Ive used mine a ton over the past 6 years. They aren't overly sharp anyway. Crampons are designed for stabbing into the ice, microspikes are more of a friction tool on the ground.
