Ok Sir, first Ty for honest reviews and input on so many different platforma🙏👍. But what I do wish is that in your parts list I would really like a complete list in one section item by item so that we can recreate if we like the exact setup you are using in the video. I've looked even today and what you show in video is extremely hard to find in the list and it seems like they even send you versions with preinstalled optics that aren't available for order, so if we had the exact list of name and model for optics, mags, triggers etc.. It would be wonderful. Then after that exact build you could do the optional stuff or variants. Just 45 years of sales and customer service trying to help you along. Cheers and stay safe and be ready for this fall

personally I do not know why, a red dot manufacturer, has not innovated a red dot, with the bottom milled to be mounted directly to the dovetail on the slide. instead of using a dovetail mount, to mount a red dot. plus it would set a bit lower to the slide, making it so it does not set so high, that you cannot use your iron sights.. just saying

Bought it. Love it. However, I managed to blow the upper apart within the first several rounds I sent through it. What caused it… I don’t know. Somehow the round did not seat fully and, when the firing pin struck the round, it blew out the side of the brass, blowing the area around the charging handle apart. What I do know is that when I contacted EXTAR, explaining what happened, I heard back from them immediately. I was asked to send in a photo of the damage… which I did. I then received another email asking me to send in the upper. And, in a very short time, I received a new upper in the mail. No problems! No hassle! No cost! A quick and satisfactory response! I have since put around a hundred rounds through it and could not be more pleased.

It was likely not headspaced correctly, thats called an out-of-battery detonation. It used to be a much bigger issue back in the day but still happens occasionally with poor quality control. For barrelnut guns and in general its good to check everything over before firing and make sure everythings tight. You can roughly check headspace at home for any gun by putting masking tape on the back of a round and closing the bolt. Keep layering tape until bolt doesn't or barely closes. 3 pieces or more, do not fire it.

@@sams6042 All I know is, this happened within the first few rounds I put through the weapon. And, the parts were replaced right away, without a hassle. I have probably put 1000+ rounds through the gun since without a problem! No failed to feed. No failed to seat. Clearly the problem round failed to fully seat. The back of the casing blew out the side. I have to assume that the issue was in that single round. I should also say that I used up the rest of that box and have used that brand for years, without a problem… other than that one time. So… whatever the problem, it never repeated itself. I love my EXTAR! Fun gun to shoot! I have a handgun, next to the bed. But, if I can get to the closet… that’s my home defence weapon!

Had the ep9 for around five years. Paid roughly $440 for it new from Extar. It’s pretty much all polymer other than than the innards. There was only the 6.5” available back then. It runs flawless, recoil is snuffed almost completely and it’s the easiest gun to shoot. Anyone can use it with little training. It feels good in hand but the retro hand guard is cheap and plasticky feeling. The trigger is really, really fantastic, with short pull , little travel and crisp fire and reset that audible. It’s very intuitive. Now the Glock 42 is plenty good enough for edc and hd. I’ve been in this business a for four decades and I can’t stand when anyone says that .380 isn’t good for SD. There’s only one type of people that state this. Those that have never shot someone or been shot with .380acp. Ball round, subsonics , flathead, hollow points, it doesn’t matter. Any projectile flying at you faster than a few hundred fps, will mess up your day, week, month and the rest of your lives, if and a big if, you survive. It’s also called a 9 shorty. It’s 9mm traveling a little slower. Doesn’t matter. It’ll poke holes through you, perforate organs and shatter bones. If your interested in buying one then there’s a couple things you’ll need to do. One: get on there text/email alert to notify you when they are back in stock. (They sell out in minutes with batches of 800). Two: make sure you have the money put back and ready for as soon as you get the restock alert , your ready to jump and buy one. They sold out why I was inputting my CC info, that’s how fast it goes. Three: have your FFL info ready to input. Btw the fire control group is fantastic and not bad at all. I’m assuming TT was given a dud of some sorts because my Ep9 trigger system is one of the best. It’s ultra crisp with no grit. These are however, great home defense guns. It also loves Classic Firearms Korean Glock 33 round (fun stick) mags.

I got to shoot an EP9 the other day. I think I enjoyed shooting it more than my CZ Scorpion. It has about the same recoil, but noticeably less than any direct blowback AR9 I have shot. First off great review. In 2017 I was getting into guns. I spent about three months researching reliable affordable guns. I watched hundreds of videos as I made up my short list and also learned about guns, shooting techniques, the you tube gun community, quality teachers and plain o'le hysp'sters (I can tell from forty plus years of teaching physical combat and as a trained Phys Ed. teacher). You were one of the guys I subscribed to back in 2018 for your knowledge and pleasant demeanor. Yes, on my short list was the Taurus G2C, SaR9 and an Extar 9 Gen.1 - it reviewed up to 13 thousand rounds by 2018/19 without breaking parts and I felt that justified it's purchase. My one concern for your wife was the short stiff, even very stiff slide/bolt lever. I imagine they improved it in the Gen 2 as you made no mention of it. The lever could use a half to one inch extension to get ones hand away from inadvertently rubbing the scope mount. For me that trigger was butter smoothe and the recoil was very pleasant. The trigger for me was on the light side of 4 pounds, maybe 3 pounds given an adrenaline rush. I liked the nicer rail furniture and all the metal upgrades where there was polymer before. Awesome to see Extra improving a very good affordable product for those with less means but desire the best for the money. There was something of a wait time when I bought mine but I was happy to note that the wait was minimal or eliminated in 2022. I was stoked to hear your high regard for this very good gun that others may have long overlooked. This Extra and a broken in micro or compact Dagger would probably make a very solid carry/home system for your beloved in conjunction with the Extar. Two is one. Blessings.

@jlbrpt
@jlbrpt 9 ай бұрын
You're overthinking this, fella. Instead of an AR platform with a 9mm, why not invest in something tried and true and much more effective like a 12 gauge loaded with #1 buck? Instead of one .356 caliber bullet per trigger squeeze, you get 12-16 pellets of .30 caliber/7.62 in a spread with each pull of the trigger, but still a tight grouping. Or you could go with 00 buckshot and get 8-9 .33 caliber pellets per squeeze of the trigger. You can buy a good enough Turkish shotgun for about $300 that is short enough to use indoors. They make them with pic rails these days to add lights/sights if you want them. Keep it by the bed with a set of ear cans if you're worried about potential hearing damage. Much more effective and efficient than a budget AR-9. EDIT: I bought a Pro 2A Tactical patriot AR-45 pistol for home defense 2 years ago...a .45 ACP in an AR platform. It was offered as a special deal at $750 with a free Tri-Star 12 gauge shotgun. Well, that AR jammed on every round. I sent it back to the factory, and now it only jams every 2-4 rounds, as long as you stick to ball ammo. HPs won't feed at all without jamming. Meanwhile, I upgraded the follower and the spring on that Tri-Star, which wasn't necessary, because it fired reliably in stock form. The upgrades were my preference. Which of those two do you think I would reach for if those were my only options? Even without the AR-45's function issues or the Tri-Star follower & spring upgrades, I'd still take the stock Tri-Star over that AR-45. You just can't do as much damage with 1 round of .45 ACP as you can with a single 12 gauge #1 buckshot shell. I've never heard of Extar until this video, and read several complaints especially with Glock magazine fit in the mag well. I'm just not into unproven, unreliable firearms manufacturers. I'm either going to buy a CZ Scorpion or an Aero Precision EPC-9 AR if I'm going to depend on a 9mm AR/PCC for defense. These are quality, dependable brands with a long track record. The Turks make shotguns for a lot of American and other companies. They make good pistols in the Canik and Sarsilmaz brands too. But it comes back to my original point: buy a reliable 12 gauge with #1 buck shells, preferably Federal Flite Control sabot rounds if you can still find it. Don't spend more for less protection with an Extar 9. It's $449. I could almost buy 2 Tri-Star/Dickinson 12 gauges for that.

Honest Outlaw has had the Gen 1 for quite some time and swear by his with over 3k rounds through his. On recip, last round bolt hold open, takes Glock mags, you can put any AR trigger in it. So many good things.

Long story short a few weeks later my car was broken into and all my money was there and a new pair of air Jordan's. My gun was gone and the detective that was in charge of the case was the same cop who pulled me over. The sig was affordable and I think as a primary it's up to the person, I like a Guage and buck shots, tac light and shell carrier.

Mounted Red dot and 5 X magnifier on it along with a 1,000 lumens rear button flashlight side mount. SHTF, survival, Camping .........this carbine can do it all and do it well. I bought a 4" barrel extention and put on mine to give it a 10" barrel, boy what a difference it made in the accuracy of the gun and stretch out the range just a bit. With what you will spend on these other 9mm carbines ( base price, gun only ) you can buy the Extar EP 9 and trick it out like you want it with all the extras.
