We should all thank Sony for giving Canon and Nikon the 'kick' they deserved. The 'fresh' competition is giving us products we could only have dreamed of before. Now, if only the manufacturers could give us video-free versions at a much reduced cost - for the still photography purists.

People have been asking for that since the first hybrid DSLRs like 5D MK II in 2008… I doubt we’ll see that for a few years at least. You might have to get a Phase One.

I shot with the Z5 and Z6 for almost all of my work, and i finally got the Z8 last year and was amazed at how much Nikon had improved in every category. The Z8 is the best feeling mirrorless body IMO and i shoot with 4 different brands.

Hello, I’ve bought my Nikon Z 8 2 months ago. It’s my first professional camera.It’s a delight to use, the pictures are fantastic. I’ve bought it with the nikkor 24-120 zoom, a very good and versatil lens. I also bought in London a Tamron 70-300 lens, a fantastic lens also. I own 2 « pancakes » : 40 and 28 lenses. I’m just a beginner, and think now that photography will become his biggest hobby. If I have to give a note to this camera is 10/10, nothing negative about it eccept the weight and the absence of GPS, no big deal. I began to shoot on high quality JPEG’s, now, I use RAW format, with Lightroom app. They both complement each other. So, this is the best camera of the moment. The Z8 is great. The weight is still light compared to DSLRs like the the Canon 5D MK IV or Nikon D5/D6.

Great video. I’ve just moved from a D850 to the Z8, a decision based on the AF, FPS and in body stabilisation as I shoot mainly military aviation. Looking forward to the adventure 👌🏻📷

All of the focus option on the Z8 are great. It’s so fast and accurate, I wasn’t even ready! It does feel like a big upgrade to the D850 🤩

What do you recommend for someone dipping their toes into video with the Z8 in terms of stabilization? I was thinking leaning towards a small rig with grips, but also looking at DJI Ronin gimbals. 🤔

Two very different solutions you have there. Look into the DJI Ronin RS2: amzn.to/3y0iI4O Don't get the mini, I dont think it will support the Z8. My Ronin SC struggled a bit to balance the Z8 & a bigger lens.
