Howdy folks! Thanks so much for watching ... all the links you need to do some research on the kits I reference are in the description but I also want to make sure you remember the AutoEdits Amazon store ... where you can get the Bones gloves like I use in the video and any purchases you make from starting at the storefront help support the channel! So thanks! www.amazon.com/shop/autoedits

Is this better than a steering stabilizer
@AutoEdits
@AutoEdits 9 ай бұрын
Totally different. This is a steering assist ram and the other is simply a dampener on the steering arm. I appreciate the assist on tight trails and rocks but for most stuff a stabilizer is fine... I liked my Icon one.@@Bohemianbiker1k

I'm one of those guys that's been pushing you to do this and I'm stoked that you're happy with it. I can't wait until you get out in the rocks, with your front locker engaged and the spotters yelling "Driver!" and you can actually do it woth ease. Your joy will be immense at that point. As I've said before, once you go 37s and actually wheel your Jeep, this is absolutely the best upgrade you can do.

Jason, the last time I saw the wrench you used on the pitman arm was 30ish years ago! I used that wrench to change out the trailer ball for the family bike rake and I left it on the bumper of my dads station wagon and lost! What a blast from the past! Thank you!

I love mine, completely changed highway driving. The main difference in my opinion (which you pointed out) the ram moves at a constant rate… meaning you can’t jerk the steering wheel which is awesome, so freakin’ smooth!

Jason, you should look into replacing that single shear clamp with a double shear one. Those single shear clamps are known for breaking/ and coming loose especially under heavy loads like turning hard while crawling pinched up next to a rock etc . There relatively cheap and also an insurance to not be left stranded or carry a spare single shear

One thing you should do when installing the ram bracket is to tack weld, then go through cycling your steering at full droop and compression. When you weld it in place, it is a lot more work to move it if there is interference. Your install looked fairly straight forward, my front G2 axle had a lot of congestion in the area of the mounting bracket. I ended up letting a fab shop locate the bracket and it still took him 2 hours to find the right spot.

Dude, this is absolutely my favorite video of yours, and you have some good ones! Anyone who can install a PSC full hydro in less than twenty minutes is a stud!! I plan on doing this upgrade on my JL this summer. I hope I can get it done in a weekend, unless you want to come throw mine in on your lunch break. I like that you are using such quality parts on your build. Where exactly did you cut off a tab to weld on a new one? It will be a little different on my front end. I don't remember what upgrades you've done to your axles. I've watched a brake upgrade video of yours but I'm not sure if it was on this jeep. I was not considering Reid knuckles until I watched this video. What height is your lift? Metal Cloak? What steering components i.e. tie rod, drag link and trac bar are you running? Nice explanation in the video BTW, knuckle dragger! You got me so pumped up watching this video I think I'll jump on over to your Amazon page and buy something to support you. Your vehicles are always sooooooooooooooo clean! I look forward to your response Jason. Thanks

Have a question for you. After ensuring all the air is out of the system, and going through that process, looking into the resevior, I don't see the fluid circulating while it's idling. The lines are warm, not the cylinder lines though. I haven't taken it for a long drive yet though, just idling in the driveway. The fluid level is just above the filter bolt and remains there. Sound normal to ytou ? Great vid, and just in time for my install. Thanks a bunch.

That's perfect! A great test for any final air in the system is to have someone start it while you look into the reservoir and if the fluid level goes down quite a bit... there's still some air to deal with. Otherwise an uneventful resi... is a happy resi.

Great video, very informative. Did you have any issues installing the serpentine belt? I got it on but it was really tight. It blew 5 min down the road and I had to limp it home. Got a new one but it still seems too tight.

No issue with the belt at all. Mine came with a specific belt for this application... make sure you are not putting a stock length belt on and continue trouble shooting from there.

@@AutoEdits cool... I currently have hoses routed under the trackbar and I noticed that the trackbar has the tendency to pull the hoses towards the differential cover.. and then the hoses get pinched between the differential cover and the tie rod bar.. not a good thing to see! I also observed a similar situation with the PSC install on a Gladiator performed by the Northridge4x4 channel... at the very end of the video while offroading and steering lock to lock you briefly see it happening ... I will play with mine but probably reroute it over the track bar the same way you did... BTW.. good job on fabricating/welding the mounts to the track bar bracket.. I made a similar one but mine is bolt-on... similar to the steersmarts steering damper mount... Thanks!

Jeepin Jay! I have the Same PSC kit on my Jeep... Recently, at low speed/idle, the steering cutting out, creating a dangerous lack of steering! I checked the fluid level in threaded reservoir, it was low, below the internal valve: filled the cylinder with proper fluid, no change in steering, just a large puking of fluid out the overflow valve. Lol. Any insight? I am going to persue bleeding the system since it could have gotten air in the reservoir when low...

I only notice a major slowdown in steering assist at near stall rpm’s. Soon as it gets to normal idle and above its perfect. If you are noticing that lag at idle, better check for kinks or other problems.

If you are upgrading to a Dana 60 rear, what is the reason for not going to a full float? Please take this as a trying to understand question, not a judgmental question.
@AutoEdits
@AutoEdits 2 жыл бұрын
That’s a legit question! It’s expensive enough to swap in a D60 rear but when you factor in full float usually is 8 lug… that means new wheels and brakes and big $$$’s The semi float will use my current brakes and wheels and gain all the D60 strength just where I feel I need it most… larger ring and pinion and much stronger tubes. I’m not a rock bouncer so trusses and all that extra heavy and wide stuff is too much. Does that make sense?

In wranglers i have noticed that the steering wheels ability to return to center during a sharp turn isnt as good as a regular car and that is fine with me.
