That remote chipper is awesome, what a great investment. My son is the mechanic for a logging company, the are in Oregon clearing 80,000 acres of burnt timber with an 85 man crew, they keep him quite busy. Love your channel.

Excellent work, I had the privilege of running a cat 320 with a fecon mulching head to thin roughly 300 acres forest. The 320 would cut ahead of a cat 299 skid steer. Each unit we cut had different specs like 15 foot spacing between trees or all trees 8 inch and under and all underbrush. One of best jobs I've ever gotten to do.

Hey Sam! In or about 2004ish I operated a Vermeer chipper with its own grapple. We would drag the trees and limbs to the back with a skid steer and I would grab them and put them in the chipper. That would eliminate the need for a mini-excavator. Two pieces of equipment for one job. Only problem was, the chipper was on its own running gear. You had to tow it by itself, then go back on a second trip to get the skid steer. I know, long comment....hang on there. I loved the efficiency of that unit. It had some pretty good advantages. Just wondered about your thoughts? By the way, there is a pretty funny side story about running that thing.

I'm curious. You must have to charge for all this? I'm from the North East and we would drag all this to a landing and the low grade would be put through a whole tree chipper. We have to buy the logs, and pay for the chips by the time or a lump sum payment. We do things similar to what your doing on a house lot where we would charge.

When you saw your limbs to feed in the chipper if you just cut the back of the limbs then feed to hole thing limbs and all. The back cut allows the chipper to fold the limbs.

Kind of an asshat question but how fire safe are you making something if you are putting your chippings and grindings on the ground.
@VBELTandSON3 жыл бұрын
Not a bad questions. We are removing the under proof which is the easier to burn and carry a fire. Under brush is the fire starter. Chips on the ground don’t really burn and when they do it is a slow slow burn. Plus we run a mulcher over the top that mixes dirt into the chips. Be hard to burn that stuff
