I just stumbled on this video. Nice job. Did you consider plywood / OSB for the walls? Why did you go with wall board?
@DIYGene19 күн бұрын
Great question. I just really liked the look of the panels. The look of this material has really improved since the old days of my parents basement family room. Lol
@stupidtakenids18 күн бұрын
@@DIYGene I see that you have a lot of things hung on the walls. I did the same. That was my main reason for going with osb. Did you have issuse with hanging things up? What did you do to attach things to the wall / wall board? Your walls look way better. Plus osb is really thirsty to paint.

Your shop is really looking fantastic, but why 12/2 romex?? I would run 12/3 so everything could be properly grounded. The added cost is like car insurance, it's a waste of money until you need it.
@DIYGene2 ай бұрын
@@PaganWizard, You know it’s funny you say this because the romex package calls it 12-2 but it includes a 12 gauge ground wire too. Why they don’t call that 12-3 I don’t know. But you are very correct. Everything needs to have grounding. Thanks for being that up.

Where I come from you can’t bury a capped box inside a wall, ceiling, etc. The cap must be on the outside of the final covering

5:00 Are you americans build your houses with one layerd paper panels, so noone gets hurt when the hurricane shows up?
@DIYGene2 ай бұрын
@@Michel-7.7.7, For a shop it works really well and will hold up for years. I don’t know if I would use it in my house. What type of materials would you use?
@Michel-7.7.72 ай бұрын
@DIYGene i tried these ¼ inch paper laminated panels here in Germany once, never again. At least tongue and groove boards or wodden panels a bit less than ½ inch thick (~10mm) to create a somewhat stiffer structure than the wobbly things. To make it "indestructable", a layer of tongue and groove chipboard beneath makes a wall, where you can screw french cleave bits (if that's a word) and hang heavy things to it anywhere, whithout being worried to hit the beam in the center. The downside, it adds up but it makes it harder for thieves to knock a hole in it and steal your tools or harder for a storm to lift it up.✌️😁
@DIYGene2 ай бұрын
@ I used 1/4” tongue and groove on the porch soffits and it’s actually cheaper than the panels but you have to stain it. I don’t know if I would trust hanging anything on it without a stud behind it either. But I hear what you are saying and it’s a nice product. I guess a lot for me is the look I want.
