I did. This is exactly what I need! After literally decades of trying to make do with various commercially available shelving units which always end up leaving lots of unusable space (read: space for piling things up), I really need a way to store all my shop equipment and accessories protected from sawdust and organized in such a way as to be able to find what I need, when I need it. No more buying multiples of things because I can't find what I need. As a matter of fact, this is also a great way to store all my sewing stuff, craft supplies, and even books!

I like this system over the hanging ones. No expensive uni-strut and hangers and especially trolleys, and always fully supported. Also, you can roll them outside if you need more room in the shop on a particular day, or take the whole darn thing with you if you move. Just roll them into an enclosed trailer, contents and all, and away you go.

I DID I did! Love the channel, details of your explanations, and your creativity, Mr. Peach. I don't know how long I have watched or subscribed but it has been quite a while and it has been fun to see the growth of the channel. I had to share an idea that came to me - inspired by your design. You could actually add it to your current design since you used screws for assembly. If you added a plywood or OSB vertical backer to the ends of the cabinets on the inboard side of the legs, then you could add hinges and a latch to the end caps to make a narrow hidden cabinet. You would be making use of the 3+ inches of vacant space at the ends of the cabinets and woukd allow for much more vertical tool storage. I hope Ethan realizes what a gift he is getting by being able to work with you and learn from a hands on perspective. What an opportunitt! Keep up the good work.

I did. I had made some roller cabinets same basic format - it tripled my floor space (better, but still too small for cutting sheet goods, still using the driveway - lol). I used 2x6 on the bottom because of some heavy stuff (chain hoist & chains, house and car jack stands, etc). My first try, didn't think about the weight and the bottom 2x4's sagged - thought it would break if I had to roll it out on to the driveway (slight bump/gap). Love the ball rollers idea - sometimes the units, and the containers, get a tiny bit cattywapus. It's always a pleasure to watch your videos.... unfortunate that Ethan bugged out...

The quality of wood is absolute crap these days. The 2x4s were almost decent but the 2x2, 1x4, and 1x4s were one step above bark. They almost qualified as hockey sticks and twisted stair spindles, were cracked, or had big gouges and chunks missing.

Seeing how you used the outside to hang things on gave me and idea to also look at using the little bit of space between the 2x4s or the end as well. I'm thinking of of maybe inclosing the ends on the inside instead of the outside and then using some pegboard to hang things or even using the small space for shelving of stains and other cans / bottles. Thanks for sharing this content. Good stuff.

I wasn't planning on making these storage units but I enjoy watching your videos because they are comprehensive with no time wasted. Fast & Furious I call them. I do totally agree that workshop space can easily be wasted without planning. I does make me laugh though because I live in the UK and the biggest workshop I was allowed to build on my own property was 20 x 20 feet and I've got 52 inch bed on my tablesaw and a workbench the same size which acts as a outfeed table. By the time I added a band saw, mortiser, jointer, pillar drill station, planer/ thicknesser, sanding station, mitre saw station, cyclone dust collector, toilet, sink unit, fridge and a metal cabinet for flammable gear, I haven't even got enough room on the floor to assemble the storage unit in your video without moving things around. Apart from my table saw and mitre station I've got most of my tools on wheels. All your workshops in the US are massive and I'm envious of the space.

I did. Love the simple but well thought out storage solution. I will have to make some of those for my next shop….zero room for them in my current one. I have 13’ ceilings in my current 2 car garage shop so all my real storage is on loft platforms above the roll up door. Works well, but is a real pain to access items. Time to break out the ladder once again!

I did! Being in a townhouse complex, my garage is pretty tiny and the floor is sloped towards the street. My units would have to be flat against the wall and lengthwise. Shimming the carts to make them level is going to be the tricky part. Love the solution for storage and wall space.

I did. I was thinking of making some shelves for the garage but you’ve got me thinking of something much better. You’re not alone with symmetry, I prefer to have my things line up also. I was hanging a series of pictures one time and spent the time measuring the wall and dividing up equally and level so the pictures didn’t look thrown up on the wall in shotgun fashion. I still have a lot of junk to get rid of instead of simply hiding behind some concealable shelves to get out of sight out of mind, I want the junk gone so I’ll have room for what I need without being buried in the bottom storage containers. Basically if I’m not using it on a regular basis it needs to go away. There’s always the urge to buy more stuff because we have room to store it now. If I get something new and it duplicates another tool then the older tool needs to go away, if not then you’re defeating the purpose of getting organized and getting rid of needless things.

I did! I bought the plans and I'm so excited to build this for my garage. Living in Florida with no basement and a virtually unusable attic this will be the PERFECT solution and an excellent project for my husband and me! I showed him the beginning and he said "Send me that link." We're so tired of stacking totes five high and having to take four off to get to the one at the bottom. Such a pain. This will be great!! Plus our garage will look so much nicer and I want to build one unit for extra household supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc. This is genius!

I just found your KZbin channel. This is what I've needed for a long time. I have a 40'x60' shop. BUT every family member believes it is their storage unit. (Even my X-daughter-in-law has left stuff in my shop. This idea will be me storage for all the cardboard boxed left behind and give me more room to work. I just watched your 2 hour plus video on making things that sell. Maybe I can make enough money to cover the cost of "their" storage units. GREAT JOB with your videos.

I did . Great idea, BUT you need a lot of room in your shop or garage in order to pull the units out to access the bins. It’s not for a shop that doesn’t have the extra open space to be able to pull out the cabinets. But it sure is a great idea if you’re in a larger space. And such an easy build . Thanks for all you do for the woodworking community.

I did Matt and this video just solved three issues for me. I just retired after 47 years of a career. So now I am in the purge of all the crap one collects over the years. I am also an artist so there will be a set of these for art supplies, another in the garage for tools and parts, and finally another as I am planning on converting a 24 foot box truck into a stealth RV set up. This organizes so much stuff effectively I love it. The biggest benefit is the support of the shelves will make the totes last way longer without cracking and such. Thanks so much for the tutorial.

yep I love mine. I used a dedicated system that I first saw at my job working in a commercial library. it consists of several deep shelving units that are on a set of horizontal tracts in ceiling as well as floor . this allows these horizontally deep shelving units that are 8' deep x 20"wide floor to ceiling. When I built my set I added bulk item ( potatoes, grains, sugar, salt ) bins at bottom for better weight distribution . They use no more floor space than a open hide a bed but store a massive amount of items.

I Did. I built a set like these but not mobile, for garage storage many years ago. They've been there 35 years and are still going strong. I did only use single 2x4 and lap jointed them. I used wood from pallets that took way more work to salvage than to build the shelves.
