Hi Heini, I will never get tired of watching your videos. They are very insightful, straight to the point, clear and helpful. I'm in the process of preparing my pitch deck (pre-revenue) and this helps me a lot. For any pre-revenue start-ups, since we don't have any customers/users or revenue to show yet, anything you have done so far (i.e. MVP, Team, Government licenses/permits) can be considered traction.

Concise. Most videos I come across while researching are usually just average or below. Filled with just superficial headings and catchy business terms with barely any reasoning. "This has to be there because it has to be there." This video was informative and to the point. Feel like I hit gold. Will try to comment if the pitch works out.

@@RawStartup OK - that can save a lot of time and resources to get it right the first time :-). In your pitch deck, did you then also clearly state that you wouldn't make any money the first many years or did you have any initial/temporary income streams laid out? Hey Heini, I saw all of your videos, fantastic content! Thank you so much, it's awesome what you're doing! Look, I have a question: I am pitching for a game in front of angels that are not from the industry. Now the problem is, the first two slides are a bit loaded with text and images- I had to tell the backstory (important) on the first one and about the characters on the second. I really tried to be as concise as possible. The third slide is the one that starts selling and is quite captivating at first glance already and the subsequent slides all look "normal"ish. But I'm worried that I'm gonna loose them till they get to there. Now my question is, in your experience, do investors scroll through the whole presentation at least briefly before they decide to take a second look? That might save me lol (if I kick out the slide with characters it fucks up my story-flow and the whole concept) Thanks a lot again!
@RawStartup
@RawStartup 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words on the content, very glad it is helpful. It is hard to give an answer from the distance, but one way of doing it is going deep into something interesting and captivating, talk a bit about that and then rewind. Like a movie where you see there murder to begin with and really want to understand how you got there. You have to make sure that they're captivated in the beginning or you will lose them.

I followed your instructions and incorporated everything or at least everything that was applicable into my concept. Heini, you mentioned that Vivino had 1M downloads at A round. We also have 1M downloads but only 90K MAU as the downloads were on a very long period of time (A lot of downloads were needed for the dev phase). How do you mitigate this? We never talk about the downloads because of this gap although it's an impressive number. Thanks!

You need downloads, but also growth. You could set a line in the sand and say this was our "old" product and not count those downloads. If you have the growth in MAU you are ok whatever the downloads are. I will say that 90k MAU is close to an A-Round all depends on what the product is.

What about Market Validation slides?
@RawStartup
@RawStartup 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, you really don't need market validation if you have traction. So the traction slides are very important, if you don't have any traction you will need some sort of market validation. Usually for startups that don't have a product in the market yet.

Super helpful. But I'm confused - for both idea and angel stage, you shouldn't talk about fundraising plan and objectives at all? Why are you pitching if not to fundraise? Sorry if I'm being dense.
@RawStartup

I get the point, it is mostly because it is pretty obvious what you need to do. You don't have product yet, so you will be building product.

@@RawStartup First of all, you're a legend for responding, so thank you!! Second, is it appropriate to ask for a dollar/ask amount at that stage (and just not go into too much detail for the reason you mentioned)?

Sir I want to ask one question, When big company owners start a company with 10K or any number of shares If so, how do they own MILLIONS or BILLIONS of shares now? Please Reply 🙏🙏🙏
@RawStartup
@RawStartup 2 жыл бұрын
Usually it is millions and billions in value so not number of shares. In that case it is because the price per share has increased.

I love how he says not to mention celebs, but 0:36 into the intro he mentions 2 of them himself. 😅 Good view nonetheless.
